- Early betting odds posted for the 2022 NBA Championship.
- The Bucks are NOT the favorites to repeat.
- The Nets favored to win their first-ever NBA title.
- The upstart Suns are expected to be in-the-mix once again.
Despite winning their first NBA championship since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was roaming the middle (1971), the Milwaukee Bucks are not the favorites to win back-to-back titles next year. Instead, online betting shop BetOnline.ag opened the Brooklyn Nets as the +325 favorites to win-it-all in 2022.
Even though the offshore sportsbooks do not have the Bucks listed as the favorite, the Bucks are listed third behind the Nets and Lakers (+475); paying out at +700. With a young core returning, including NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, the Bucks have a legit shot of going back-to-back.
Coming off a second-round playoffs exit, the oddsmakers do not seem too concerned with the Brooklyn Nets chances to bounce back next year as they are the +325 favorites to win their first-ever NBA championship. In order for that bet to cash, the Big-3 of Kevin Durant, James Harden and Kyrie Irving will have to stay healthy and on the court. Good luck on that as they will be 33, 32 and 29 years old respectively once the season tips-off.
This year’s runners-up – the Phoenix Suns – have a roster full of young talent so it should not be a surprise that their odds to get the job done in 2022 are +900. The big question mark in the desert will be if 36-year old Chris Paul returns for another run. If yes, expect the Suns’ odds to shorten.
