After playing three straight games against teams including Alcorn State, Central Arkansas and Arkansas Pine Bluff I was actually worried #2 Baylor might have gone soft. But nope, the Bears stayed hot and opened up Big 12 play with back to back wins over Iowa State and Oklahoma.
Now Baylor will see if they can do it a third time in a row as they travel to TCU on Saturday to take on the Horned Frogs.

Baylor vs TCU Preview
TCU Shaky in Conference Play but Solid Overall
At 9-3 on the season TCU is off to a good start so far to the season. After beating up on teams like Liberty and Tulsa at the beginning of the season they also put together wins over Oklahoma State and Texas A&M while also peeking out a win against Kansas State.
With the Horned Frogs the plan is simple, get Guard RJ Nembhard the ball. The junior leads the team in points, averaging over 18 a game while also tallying the most assists with over four a game. Even more impressive is his shooting ability. From the field overall he is nearly making every other shot he puts up by averaging close to 50 percent while is three point range is nearing 40 percent, also staggering.
However this is also the problem with TCU is that one guy is consistently controlling the offensive performance. Outside of Nembhard, only two other players average double figures while the next closest horned frog averages just six. This is why the team as a whole is shooting less than 47 percent from the field, but their defense has still kept them in games against opponents who are at or below their level and as you could’ve guessed lost games against teams way better offensively.
Bears as Dominant as Ever
However the Baylor Bears are nowhere near TCU’s level of play. They are undefeated on the season at 10-0 and have already won three conference games. While sure we don’t know exactly how good this Baylor team is yet considering the real meat of their schedule is coming up in the next few weeks and they only played one ranked team, none of their games have even come close to an upset. Their closest margin of victory came against Iowa State but they still won by 11 points!
This is due to a tremendously balanced scoring attack where five players average double figures and their team overall is shooting above 50 percent from the field and averaging over 90 points a game in college! Guard Macio Teague leads the Bears in points with 16 a game while other guard Davion Mitchell is the one who really gets the team going with his defense turning to offense by leading Baylor in assists and steals.
Baylor vs TCU Pick & Prediction
Everyday it appears we are moving closer and closer to an inevitable Gonzaga and Baylor final because frankly these teams just have not looked human. It’s hard to bet against Baylor for that reason until they show signs of any team coming within 10 points of them in a final score.
They have the players that can stop TCU’s Nembhard and as a result most of their offensive production. We’ll keep riding Baylor until they give us a reason not to.
