Who’s going to win it? At first glance, Ilima-Lei Macfarlane (11-0) looks like a big favorite. The Ilimanator has already defended the title on four occasions since winning it in 2017.

Macfarlane vs Velasquez Odds
First of 10 Remaining Fights in Macfarlane’s Career
Ilima-Lei Macfarlane is one of the biggest stars of Bellator and one of the best female flyweight fights in the world. Furthermore, when it comes to pound-for-pound rankings, she’s currently #11 in Tapology’s list of professional female fighters. No other Bellator fighter is ranked so high.
Speaking of Bellator, even though Macfarlane is a UFC-level fighter, she’s not going to change the promotion anytime soon, if ever. The 30-year-old signed a contract extension with Bellator which is going to keep her fighting under the banner of this promotion for another five years.
Once her contract expires, Macfarlane’s plan is to retire and start a family. By then, she’s going to engrave her name in Bellator’s history (if she already hasn’t) as one of the best fighters ever to fight for this promotion. The best thing is that she has a chance to end her career without losing a single professional fight.
According to the terms of her contract, she has to fight 10 more bouts, including the Macfarlane vs Velasquez title fight.
Bellator Legend Won’t Let Go of Her Championship Belt
In 2017, Macfarlane won the flyweight title by beating Emily Ducote. Since then, four fighters tried to steal the title away from here, namely Alejandra Lara, Valérie Létourneau, Veta Arteaga, and Kate Jackson.
None of them managed to get the better of the Ilimanator, with Kate Jackson getting closest – their fight was decided by points. The other three title challengers failed to get to the final bell, each one losing in Round 3.
The fight in question happened almost a year ago in Macfarlane’s home state of Hawaii. After three rounds, the judges decided the title will stay in its place.
The fight against Kate Jackson was one of only three Macfarlane’s fights that went the distance. Previously, it happened when she fought Emily Ducote in 2016.
Juliana Velasquez Plans to Stay Undefeated
With a black belt in judo, Juliana Velasquez is famous for being a tough girl to beat when she’s on the floor. However, since joining Bellator in 2017, we’ve seen her utilizing her kicks and punches. Still, most of her career wins were decided by points.
Speaking of Juliana Velasquez’s victories, she has 10 of them in her professional career. The first one of those happened six years ago when she was 28.
Her undefeated run earned her a title shot against Macfarlane; however, Velasquez has never fought such a tough opponent. In fact, the most reputable fighter she’s fought so far is Rebecca Ruth, whom she beat in 2018 in what was Ruth’s final fight of the career.
Macfarlane vs Velasquez Prediction
Ilima-Lei Macfarlane is the best Bellator has to offer. In fact, she’s one of the best female fighters in her division, who’d probably cope very well even against UFC fighters.
She’s defended her title four times already, fighting off fighters who are much more talented than the next challenger. That said, anything but a win for the current champ would be a big surprise.
