Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat Preview

Both of these sides endured contrasting battles in the previous round of the NBA Playoffs, with the Celtics having to claim a game seven victory over the Toronto Raptors to book their spot in the finals. Meanwhile, the Heat were more efficient in their series, as they were able to swat aside the number one seeded Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat were excellent throughout that series as they only dropped one game to the talented Bucks side.

Miami have continued to get better as the season goes on, but this will be their biggest challenge to date. The Heat would have enjoyed over a week off the court by the time that they come up against the Celtics in the finals. Their last game against the Bucks saw the Heat claim a 103-94 success. The Heat had seven players end that game with ten or more points, with Jimmy Butler joint-top scoring along with Goran Dragic. Heat’s ability to distribute the points around the team is one of the biggest assets that they have, and that will leave them in a solid position to truly challenge the strong Celtics defence.

Boston were forced to a game seven by the resilient Toronto Raptors, but the Celtics were able to hold their nerve in the final minutes more so than their opponents. Celtics were shaky from beyond the arc for much of the game, but their defence persevered. Celtics claimed the 92-87 victory. Jayson Tatum was in excellent form for the Celtics as he scored an impressive 29 points. Meanwhile, there was also 21 points for Jaylen Brown, and double-digit returns for Kemba Walker and Marcus Smart. There will also be a boost for the Celtics heading into this series as they will welcome back Gordon Hayward following his injury problems.

Head To Head Record

The Celtics have enjoyed a good record against the Heat, as they have won five of the previous seven. In the regular season, Boston claimed two wins, while Miami won the most recent meeting between the sides in August.

Boston Celtics vs Miami Heat Picks

It’s fair to say that not many people could have foreseen this being the final in the East. However, both sides are deserving of their place and it should be a thrilling season. That being said, the Celtics appear to be too strong for the Heat, but Miami will claim the opening game success as the long series against the Raptors takes its toll on Boston.
