It is true that pinpointing a favorite for the 2020 Breeders’ Cup Classic has been a tough undertaking. From Improbable to Maximum Security, the race has been filled with worthwhile contenders.
For a while there, it all pointed at Maximum Security, but Improbable managed a victory over him last Saturday and is now posted as the heavy favorite for a win. Well, Improbable’s (+400) odds aren’t much behind Tiz The Law’s (+350).
Both horses have at least two more preparatory races to run and by mid-October, we should have a somewhat clearer view of what to expect from these two contenders, and all the rest of course.
In fact, it was Authentic who won the 2020 Kentucky Derby on September 5 with Improbable and Maximum Security not quite making a dent.

Is Improbable Still the Favorite for Breeders’ Cup Champion?
Over the 2020 horseracing season, a lot has happened. Improbable has quickly established itself as one of the most consistent contenders in all races throughout the season. He managed to clinch a second place at Oakland Park and went on to win the Hollywood Gold Cup.
Presently, BetOnline posts Improbable slightly behind Tiz The Law which is tipped as a favorite, but in terms of consistency, Improbable may have the upper hoof. He has already won over other worthwhile contenders, including Maximum Security in the Awesome Again Stakes.
Yet, how is it so that Authentic is tipped to win the Preakness Stakes and the horse has already won the Kentucky Derby, but floundered against Tiz The Law in the Belmont Stakes.
Other Contenders to Consider in the Race: Authentic, Tiz The Law, and More
Naturally, there will be a lot of hooves beating down the track on November 7. Authentic, Tiz The Law, and Maximum Security are all worthwhile picks. Each of these horses has secured at least one important achievement this year, establishing itself as a smart pick for the average bettor.
Tiz The Law will probably try to secure a second victory in the Triple Crown events in Preakness but so will Authentic, which has already won the Kentucky Derby. Maximum Security is another interesting pick.
He has been on fire, winning one race after another, but was disqualified from the Kentucky Derby in May, 2019 for running a little too risky.
Yet, Maximum Security has been consistent this year, delivering good results and definitely looking strong for the upcoming Breeders’ Cup Classic.
Depending on who wins the Preakness Stakes, though, the odds for the Breeders’ Cup Classic may shift or cement themselves as they are.
In the meantime, there are at least several good opportunities to place a worthwhile future bet already.
