The Colorado Avalanche come into this game at Ball Arena in excellent form. Colorado has picked up five straight victories in the NHL, with only the Edmonton Oilers currently being on a longer winning sequence. The reigning Stanley Cup champions remain ninth in the Western Conference standings, but they could move back into the top eight with victory on Tuesday.
The Avalanche are yet to reach the same level of performance at home as they achieved last term, as they have suffered eight of the 17 regulation defeats at Ball Arena. However, the confidence within the team will be high after winning each of their previous three on the road. Their latest success was a shootout win over the Seattle Kraken.

The Washington Capitals don’t come into this game in the same kind of form as the Avalanche, but they do still sit in a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. They currently hold a five-point advantage over ninth-placed Buffalo Sabres, but they will need to end the negative run that they have endured over their previous ten, as they have gone 4-5-1.
