Chargers vs Jaguars Vegas Odds
The Chargers were narrowly defeated 28-31 by the Broncos in week 18 but they won’t be too disappointed given that they had already locked up the AFC 5th seed and their stars came out this encounter unscathed. Los Angeles will need better production from RB Austin Ekeler in the wildcard matchup with the Jaguars than he managed vs Denver, and their defense will need to pressure Trevor Lawrence more than they did Russ Wilson to shut down the Jaguars’ big threats. Ekeler, along with QB Justin Herbert and WRs Keenan Allen & Mike Williams are the ones to watch for the Los Angeles offense, whilst Khalil Mack, Drue Tranquill, and Joey Bosa are the standout performers on defense.
The Jaguars weren’t at their best in the week 18 matchup vs the Titans but they got the job done with a 16-20 victory. Star running back Travis Etienne struggled to make any impact on the ground for Jacksonville and it was left to Trevor Lawrence and Christian Kirk to combine for the Jaguars’ only offensive touchdown of the game. Those offensive threats all remain key to Jacksonville’s progress in the postseason but it is their defense that will play the biggest part in any success. The Jaguars’ defensive line put opposing quarterbacks under a lot of pressure, and their secondary is as good as any at coming away with a pick so Chargers QB Justin Herbert is going to feel the heat on Saturday.
Chargers vs Jaguars Prediction
This matchup feels very well-balanced and it could come down to one big moment from either team. I like the Los Angeles defense a little more than Jacksonville’s so that’s where I will find the edge in this game and go for a Chargers win.
