Winless 49ers Craving for a Win
The 49ers are without a win this year. Actually, the last time they won a college football game was on November 30, 2019. This season, they are with two wins from two games. In both those games, the team from Charlotte was the underdog. This time, it’s different.
The 49ers are traveling to Denton with the role of a 3-point favorite. Despite not winning anything so far, their performances haven’t been that dreadful, which explains why the oddsmakers thing they’re going to beat the Mean Green.
In the opening round, Charlotte lost to Appalachian State 35-20, despite having a 9-lead coming into the final quarter of the game. Then, in the second round, they lost to Florida Atlantic 21-17, showing that their defense has the potential to do really well in the upcoming games.

When they met the previous time, about a year ago, the score was 39-38 in Charlotte’s favor. North Texas Mean Green were the favorites in that game, and it seemed they were going to win until the fourth quarter. However, that’s when the 49ers QB Chris Reynolds stepped up and passed for two TDs.
Speaking of Reynolds, the team captain has been struggling this season due to an upper-body injury, which explains his team’s offensive problems. However, it’s been nearly a month since he got injured, meaning that we might see him playing at 100% fitness on Saturday evening.
Nevertheless, it’s the 49ers defense that’s going to be in the spotlight. Scoring against the Mean Green does not seem that difficult in 2020, but stopping their offense definitely does. If the 49ers defense do their best, this team’s going to get their first win of the season.
