- Justin Fields will start his first NFL game this Sunday against the Browns.
- Despite having Nick Foles, Bears head coach Matt Nagy decided to put in the rookie.
- Meanwhile, Tua Tagovailoa is out for the Dolphins against the Las Vegas Raiders.
NFL fans will have a chance to see big changes in Week 3. Even though they didn’t plan anything like that, the Chicago Bears and the Miami Dolphins are about to start with new QBs.
Dalton Out, Fields In
The veteran Andy Dalton suffered his left knee and will be out for some time. That is why head coach Matt Nagy decided to make rookie Justin Fields the starter for the upcoming match against the Cleveland Browns.
Dalton picked up an injury against his former team, the Cincinnati Bengals, after one run. At the time, it seemed that he might continue the match after some analysis, but eventually couldn’t play anymore.
Fields replaced the former Pro Bowler, had had one interception, six completions for 60 yards, and no TDs.
However, this will be a completely different experience for the former Ohio State star, who got the advantage over the former Super Bowl champion, Nick Foles.
The Bears were already underdogs against the Browns, and this development cemented that status. The odds on their victory are +295, while on the other side, the Browns’ win is at -300. The current spread on the Bears is +7.
Still, the franchise from Soldier Field isn’t expecting anything special from this year, and their only goal is to create a core that might be competitive in the years to come. Of course, Fields and his development are in the middle of everything.
Tua Broke His Ribs, Brissett To Start
Miami Dolphins starting QB Tua Tagovailoa broke his ribs against the Buffalo Bills, and he won’t play this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders. This news was revealed and confirmed today by the Fins head coach, Brian Flores.
There was no information on the severity of the injury and the possible absence from the field, and the only data Flores gave was that Tua’s status is “day-to-day, week-to-week.”
The Dolphins suffered a humiliating loss against the division rivals, 35-0, and are now 1-1 following the opening victory over the Patriots. The game against the Raiders in Las Vegas will be very important for them and the remaining part of the season.
Jacoby Brissett will replace the injured youngster in this event. The 28-year old has 32 starts in his career, 30 of them for the Indianapolis Colts, where he spent most of his career. In 2019, he had 18 TDs, and 6 picks in 15 starts with 2,942 yards.
Brissett is known as a QB who knows how to execute when in the red zone, and he has 12 rushing TDs since becoming a pro.
Miami is an underdog before this match, with the odds on them taking a W in Nevada at +175, while on the other side, the Raiders’ triumph is -195. Even though many believe that Tua’s injury might be a handicap for the franchise from Florida, some suggest that they might play better with Brissett.
