Fans of the Kansas Jayhawks flooded the field after their win over South Dakota. Wins have come few and far between for the Jayhawks, so the reaction is expected. They’ll face a strong foe when they face the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. Hopefully, some of that momentum will play a factor when they take the field on Friday.

Coastal Carolina made very easy work of Citadel in Week 1. The run by committee format they’ve adopted proved useful. Each running back on the depth chart made an impact as Coastal Carolina snagged five rushing TD’s. The formula will likely be the same against Kansas, but can they cover the 25.5 point spread?

Game Prediction

Kansas Jayhawks hope to pull off an upset on Friday

The Kansas Jayhawks come in as heavy underdogs, but you can’t convince them they can’t win. They did a great job against South Dakota, with a late touchdown to lift them to victory. They’ll need some of that magic against Coastal Carolina, who has a very strong rushing offense. The Jayhawks controlled the time of possession for nearly ten more minutes, something they’ll try to do on Friday.

The defense could prove to be a weak point for Kansas, though. They allowed 165 yards on the ground, and Coastal Carolina will exploit that. Hopefully, the Kansas coaching staff has made stopping the run a focal point for Friday’s game. Kansas was -11.5 in their game against South Dakota, and they were unable to cover the spread.

Plan for a heavy dose of rushing from Coastal Carolina

Coastal Carolina demolished Citadel in Week 1, and this was thanks to an impressive rushing offense. They racked up over 600 yards on offense, 266 of it was on the ground. We can’t count out their passing attack, though, which was responsible for 348 yards through the air. Considering they’re facing the Jayhawks, expect them to take advantage of the weak defense.

Coastal Carolina covered the spread over Citadel easily and is expected to do so again. Offenses like these have an easy time walking over subpar defenses. Prepare for another heavy dose of Coastal Carolina rushing when they take the field on Friday.

Outcome & Pick

Who will win tonight’s NCAAF game: Coastal Carolina -25.5

It’s great that Kansas got a win over South Dakota because now they’ll be snapped back to reality. Coastal Carolina is going to attack the Jayhawks’ defense furiously and pound the ball to victory. We don’t expect the spread to matter much here. Take Coastal Carolina -25.5.
