Dana White’s Contender Series Predictions (Week 8)
Middleweight: Ikram Aliskerov vs. Mario Filipe De Sousa
These are both fighters with a solid background. Aliskerov’s (12-1) only loss was against Khamzat Chimaev, and this middleweight won 12 bouts, against solid rivals, mostly in Brave organization. He is strong, knows to perform in any given situation, and like every other fighter from Dagestan is a fantastic wrestler.
Sousa (15-2) was one of the biggest talents in Brazil, but he disappeared somewhere along the road. This is his third DWCS appearance, having one win and one loss. A ferocious striker, Sousa comes off three wins in a row, all via KO.
The Brazilian is our pick here, because of his improvement over the last year. Aliskerov had just one fight this year while Sousa had three and looked fantastic in all of them.
Contender Series Predictions:
Bantamweight: Farid Basharat vs. Allan Begosso
Farid the “Ferocious” Basharat is a submission artist who has an 8-0 record with five of those victories coming on the mat. He is a very solid striker who eventually wrestles out the rival before submitting him.
On the other side is Allan Begosso (7-1-1), Legacy Fighting Alliance member, who had quite the challenges throughout his career, facing some pretty nasty rivals. Begosso is a versatile fighter with solid grappling and striking knowledge.
In our opinion, he will have the edge here, due to his comprehensive knowledge and superior experience.
Contender Series Predictions:
Lightweight: Malik Lewis vs. Trevor Peek
The clash between two undefeated lightweights and hard hitters. Lewis is 5-0 with four wins coming via KO, while on the other side, Peek posted all of his triumphs via knockout. Both are explosive fighters with bombs in their hands.
What we predict here is that this bout won’t see the distance, but end via KO. It would be very ungrateful to pick either of these guys to triumph because one punch could change the entire situation.
Contender Series Predictions:
Bantamweight: Brandon Lewis vs. Daniel Marcos
The bantamweight bout between the American and the Peruvian fighter draws huge attention, and many believe that it could be the best one on the card. Lewis (6-1) was already a part of the DWCS last year once he suffered his only defeat to Mo Miller.
On the other side is Marcos (12-0), the undefeated 300 Sparta champion, who uses his solid reach very well, chopping the rivals and either knocking them out or collecting points to win via decision.
Marcos is a tactically very skilled guy, and apart from that, he has more experience in big fights, which is why we pick him to beat Lewis.
Contender Series Predictions:
Strawweight: Marnic Mann vs. Bruna Emanuele Brasil
The only lady’s bout of the night is in the strawweight division, between the American Marnic Mann (5-0) and the Brasilian, Bruna Emanuele Brasil (7-2-1). Mann is a strong and powerful hitter, and so far, she has posted three wins via KO, while on the other side, Brasil is more of a tactical fighter who knows to wrestle and collect points. She started her career slow, but after that had six straight victories.
The Brazilian is the favorite for us in this battle, as she looks more versatile and is six inches higher than the rival.
