- Veteran Nick Diaz is set to make long-awaited return at UFC 266 this weekend.
- Will face Robbie Lawler in middleweight bout.
- Fight fans express concern following footage of Diaz shadow boxing.
Mixed martial arts veteran Nick Diaz is set to make a return to the octagon this weekend following a near seven-year-long layoff.
Diaz, 36, will make an eagerly anticipated comeback against fellow legend of the sport ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler in a bout that will see both men meet for the second time in their careers.
Having first fought one another all the way back in 2004, UFC 266 on Saturday night will see the pair go head-to-head, 17 years after Diaz claimed a victory by way of a second-round knockout.
Despite feeling uninspired by the prospect of returning to fighting, Diaz, who recently admitted he feels resentment towards mixed martial arts, has opened as the online oddsmakers’ narrow favorite.
However, with UFC 266 now just two days away, official pre-fight video footage has emerged, courtesy of the UFC, showing the Stockton-born brawler shadow boxing in preparation for Lawler.
In light of the footage, which appears to show a slow and out-of-time Diaz boxing, fight fans have been quick to express their concerns for the 36-year-old, with some fans even suggesting Lawler is certain to take the win this weekend.
