- Miami Dolphins are coming off back-to-back wins
- New York Jets lost their previous two games
- Joe Flacco to start for the Jets in Zach Wilson’s absence
The Miami Dolphins have been terrible in 2021 with a 3-7 record. Luckily for them, their Week 11 opponents are the New York Jets, who have an even worse record, 2-7. Does this mean the visitors should be thought of as the favorites?
Vegas odds surely suggest so – the Dolphins are seen as four-point faves. Will they win and can they cover the spread? These are the questions we’ll try to answer in this Dolphins vs Jets preview.

Dolphins Aiming Their Third Straight Win
November’s been a pretty good month for the Miami Dolphins. They’re 2-0 this month, beating the Houston Texans and Baltimore Ravens. Unfortunately, those two wins have only improved their record to .300, meaning that their chance of getting to the postseason is very, very slim.
On the bright side, winning back-to-back games has certainly given them a massive confidence boost. Beating the Texans showed that they can win when they need to – the win against the AFC’s worst team ended the Dolphins’ seven-game losing streak.
The win over the Baltimore Ravens showed that Miami’s players have the skill set required to take down much tougher opponents. Their defense was particularly impressive in that game, preventing Lamar Jackson from making more than one TD pass.
Miami’s offense hasn’t been great this season, but their quarterback Tua Tagovailoa has started showing signs of improvement. He scored a rushing touchdown in each of the previous two games he played.
QB Joe Flacco to Start for the Jets in Week 11
The New York Jets have the worst defense in the entire NFL. With 296 points conceded in nine games, their average is 32.9. To illustrate how horrible their defense has been, let me tell you that the next-worst defense has been averaging 28.9 points.
Still, it’s not their defense that should be their main worry in Week 11; it’s their offense. With Zach Wilson still not being 100% fit, the role of the starting quarterback will be given to Joe Flacco.
This is going to be Flacco’s first start of the season and the second time he’s playing. Previously, the QB stepped in as a backup in the Week 10 game against the Buffalo Bills. He did surprisingly well in that game, going 3/3 for 47 yards and one touchdown.
Still, considering that he spent only a couple of minutes on the field in that game, no one can say for certain whether he’ll continue playing like that. However, judging by his stats from 2020, it’s unlikely. That season, he went 74/134 for 864 yards and six touchdowns in five games.
NFL Predictions for This Week
The Dolphins have a chance that they mustn’t miss. They are better than the Jets, who, on top of everything, are without their starting QB. Still, knowing that neither team’s been very proficient scoring-wise, we might see a very close game on Sunday. That said, Miami might not be able to cover the four-point spread.
