Team News and Game Preview

Following their impressive 3-0 win over Wales in their final game in Group B, England look to have reaffirmed why they’re considered one of the favorites to win the 2022 World Cup.

Harry Kane has yet to open his goalscoring account, but the Three Lions are blessed with attacking quality, so other players have stepped up, including Man United’s Marcus Rashford, whose brace, which included a stunning free kick, against Wales saw him become the competition’s joint-top scorer on three goals.

In terms of availability, England have no reported absentees, or players suffering fitness issues. In fact, they’re set to be handed a boost in the form of James Maddison, who has yet to feature in the tournament. Although very unlikely to start against Senegal, the Leicester City attacking midfielder will certainly provide a different option on the bench, should Southgate need one.

Senegal are in a similar position. The bulk of their squad should be fit and ready to take on England on Sunday. They are, of course, without Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane though. The former Liverpool star was ruled out of the tournament before a ball was kicked through injury and he will certainly prove to be a big loss, especially given his experience of playing against Premier League-proven opposition.

Marcus Rashford to Score Anytime

As briefly mentioned above, Rashford is a man in form.

The English forward’s recent performance against Wales will make it nigh-on impossible for his manager to drop him back to the bench, and when it comes to possible goalscorers, the 25-year-old is certainly a player worth backing.

World Cup Predictions: England vs Senegal

Senegal won’t be as easy a match-up for England as Wales were, but given their last performance and the fact Southgate appears to have finally found his best starting 11, it is hard to foresee any outcome other than another win for the Europeans.
