There is no word as to when the Premier League and other European competitions will resume, but that hasn’t stopped the rumours circulating of potential summer moves. Everton are one of the clubs that are expected to feature heavily over the summer, as Carlo Ancelotti looks to mould this Everton side in his vision.
The Toffees have been in excellent form since Ancelotti’s arrival. When the Italian arrived they were looking over their shoulders fearing that relegation could be on the horizon. However, they will have hopes that they could achieve a European finish with the season finally resumes. Ancelotti is certainly aiming high; especially considering the names that he is being linked with bringing in over the summer months.
Toffees Looking At Real Madrid Pair
Reports began circulating on Saturday morning that Ancelotti is hopeful of bringing two players in that he has worked with in the past. One of those players was part of the Champions League winning side that Ancelotti lead at Madrid. The reports have indicated that Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez could be about to swap Spain for England over the summer, but is there a realistic chance that this could actually be happening?
Bale and Rodriguez will be two of the highest earners at Madrid, which means that they will need to take a significant pay cut if they are to move to England. The Toffees are unlikely to offer anything near the money that they are currently paid at Real. Bale has been linked with a move away from Madrid for the past couple of years. But, it would show a clear indication of the aims that the Toffees will have over the coming years. It would also raise questions surrounding some of the players that are already at the club.
Gylfi Sigurdsson has certainly fallen out of favour at Goodison Park. The number ten will likely be pushed out of the door over the summer, as Everton bring in Rodriguez to replace him. The Colombian hasn’t been able to grasp his chance at Madrid, and a fresh start could be exactly what the player needs.
Could Bale Arrival Mean The Departure Of Richarlison?
Bale had his best season in Spain under the management of Ancelotti, and the two of them certainly had a relationship that could flourish again. However, fans would immediately be concerned that the arrival of the Welshman could mean that the departure of Richarlison could be on the cards. The Brazilian was rumoured to be close to a move to Barcelona in the winter window, as Everton rejected an offer in the region of £90 million.
Football fans were stunned that bid was rejected, as Richarlison is not worth that amount of money. However, Everton didn’t want to lose one of their star players on the final day of the window. Should Barcelona return with a bid in the same region, then it would be incredibly hard for the Toffees to turn down that amount of money that was offered in January. Regardless, if Everton can bring in Bale and Rodriguez, then it would be an exciting 2020-21 season for the club.
