- Iowa 3-2 in their last five
- Ohio State 4-1 in their last five
- Iowa 2-0 against ranked teams at home this year
Wow what a matchup we have in store for Thursday night. Iowa has been considered the Big Ten favorite from the start to win the conference this year but have struggled as of late with two back to back losses against Indiana and Illinois and a close win at home over a far less superior Michigan State team.
Meanwhile, Ohio State is playing some of its best basketball as March gets closer rattling off nearly five straight wins but winning their last three by a combined margin of 23 points. Now we will see who has the more complete game on Thursday with two evenly matched teams.

Ohio State vs Iowa Preview
Garza Dominating for Iowa
One the most likely Wooden Award nominees has been playing like one of the best in the country as Luka Garza has been nothing short of amazing this season. The senior is averaging 26.5 points a game while also converting more than half of this field goals, mostly because he is a matchup nightmare in the post for teams as they don’t have anyone that really influence his shot.
The team as a while is averaging almost 90 points a game however and shooting nearly 50 percent from the floor. However what troubles me is their consistency; the Big Ten has tough competition no matter where you look this year except maybe Nebraska, but still Iowa has played down to their competition at times and gives up close to 80 points a game as well.
Buckeyes Hitting Their Stride
Picked to finish in somewhat middle of the pack this year, Ohio State is proving everyone wrong by becoming a tough out in any game they play this year leading to an 8-4 conference record. This has been thanks largely in part to the play of Sophomore E.J. Liddell who has battled injuries this season but is still leading the team in points with 15 a game and rebounds with 6.9 a game.
Liddell will be the key to Ohio State’s victory here. Not just because he has consistent scoring, but also because he can expose the weakness in Garzas game which is his footwork on defense. Liddell’s ability to put the ball on the floor at six foot seven can create problems for Iowa and keep up with them for a high-scoring type game if need be.
Ohio State vs Iowa Prediction
Who will win the Ohio State vs Iowa State game:
The spread has yet to be released in this one but if Iowa are favored at home, I will take whatever points Vegas gives Ohio State. This is a team that matches up well with them and can go basket for basket; I also don’t like how the Hawkeyes have been playing recently especially against Michigan State in their last game.
Their high-powered offense has been able to save them from dropping more games than they should so far this season with the defense that they play, but it won’t save them against this Ohio State team. The Buckeyes win and at least cover on the road.
