Sharks Looking For Fast Start

The San Jose Sharks will be looking to get their new season off to a fast start this Friday, as David Quinn leads the franchise into his first full season in charge. It was far from an ideal season last term, as the Sharks went 32-37-13 over the regular season, scoring 214 goals and allowing 264.

The Sharks have been in action throughout pre-season, winning four of the five games that they played. That included a recent 7-3 victory on the road against the Vegas Golden Knights last weekend. The Sharks scored four of their seven goals in the second period of that game, with Danil Gushchin scoring three goals. Jonah Gadjovich scored once and recorded an assist, while other goals were added by Erik Karlsson, Matt Benning, and Luke Kunin.

Predators Hoping For Playoffs Spot

The Nashville Predators will again aim to finish in a playoff spot in the Western Conference this term. Once again, they will be led into the season by John Hynes. However, they will be hoping for a deeper run in the playoffs this term, as they were swept in the opening round of the post-season in 2021-22 by the Colorado Avalanche. They have strengthened considerably during the off-season, with Kevin Gravel, Jordan Gross, and Kevin Lankinen among the players brought in.

The Predators played one fewer game in pre-season than the Sharks, but they picked up three wins from four games played. Their only defeat came in overtime against the Florida Panthers on September 26. However, they should be confident coming into this opener, as they easily breezed past the Tampa Bay Lightning last week with a 7-1 victory.

Head-to-Head Record

The Predators come into this fixture having won the previous four meetings between the sides. They have achieved shut outs in each of their previous two wins, with their latest success being a 1-0 victory achieved in April. Meanwhile, an average of 5.4 goals have been scored per game in the previous 52 matches.

Sharks vs Predators Pick and Prediction

The dominant record achieved by the Predators in this fixture makes them the clear favorite to win this fixture. We expect them to get off to a winning start this weekend, and we could also see under 5.5 goals being scored.
