Event Details & Winners
The Portland Classic has been competed for the past 49 years, with the first tournament taking place in 1972 under its previous name of the Portland Ladies Classic. However, the biggest chance at the event came in 2013, as it became a 72-hole event for the first time. Previously, the event was only played over 54 holes. The event is a stroke play and is played over a course of 6,476 yards.
Hannah Green and Brooke Henderson both hold the joint records for this event in its current format, having scored aggregate scores of 267 in their respective wins in 2019 and 2015. Both stars also won the event with a par score of -21. The most recent winner of the event was Georgia Hall, who beat Ashleigh Buhai a playoff last year at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.
Jin Young Ko has been in excellent form throughout 2021, and is rightfully the player at the top of the betting. She has won two majors during her career, with her victories in the ANA Inspiration and Evian Championship both coming in 2019. Young Ko has already won an event on the LPGA Tour this year, having beaten Matilda Castren by a stroke at the Volunteers of America Classic in July.
Patty Tavatanakit should also not be overlooked, as she claimed major success earlier in the season when winning the ANA Inspiration. She also finished in the top ten in both the Women’s PGA Championship and Women’s British Open. Hannah Green is also a prominent selection, having won this event by one stroke in 2019. However, she is yet to win a tournament since that success two years ago and finished in a tie for 48th in the British Open.
Cambia Portland Classic Pick & Prediction
Who will win the Cambia Portland Classic this weekend:
We will be opting for a player at a bigger price for the Portland Classic this weekend, as there is certain value with Brooke Henderson. The Canadian has won this event on two previous occasions, including by a record winning score and widest winning margin in 2015. The 24-year-old has already picked up a win on the LPGA Tour this year, after beating Jessica Korda by one stroke in the Hugel-Air Premia LA Open in April.
