One of European’s best strikers, Timo Werner, apparently won’t end up in Liverpool at the end of this season. His next destination could be in a completely different direction – Inter Milan.
Inter Offers Werner More Minutes Than Liverpool
The German and Liverpool were reportedly near a deal, and a part of the media is even suggesting that they had some sort of a verbal agreement. Jurgen Klopp is a huge fan of Werner’s style of play, and for a long time, the Reds’ manager pushed to see this deal done.
Even though fans were worried regarding the chemistry in the locker room, Klopp didn’t want to back out and miss a chance to sign Red Bull’s fantastic forward.
However, it seems that the player himself eventually changed his mind. According to the same media, the most important thing for Werner in the whole story is his playing time. After hearing that Liverpool won’t sell any of its three starting attackers, Werner probably started thinking about his future at Anfield. He would have to share minutes, and be on the bench more than he usually.
On the other side, Inter is making a super-team, and the 24-year old would play in the starting lineup. Even if Nerazzurri don’t sell Lautaro Martinez, there would still be a place among 11 starters for him.
The Serie A powerhouse offered Red Bull €50 million, and they are prepared to include some players in the bid as well. On the other side, the German club is aware that its best player is about to leave and is trying to get the best deal out of it regardless of who the buyer is. So pretty much there won’t be a problem from their side about the coming through.
Inter’s Plans to Replace Martinez With Werner
The three-time European champions have offers for Lautaro Martinez, and the most serious one is from Barcelona. Allegedly, Blaugrana offers €80 million for the forward, but Inter wants at leas €20 million more.
They are in a position to make conditions, and for sure won’t allow the Spaniards to dictate the terms in this case. Inter would be fine regardless of how these negotiations end, as they have financial stability and are safe in these harsh times.
Werner might be a perfect replacement for Martinez, but even if the Argentinian stays, Antonio Conte wouldn’t have any trouble in pairing him and Werner. With Romelu Lukaku in the attack also, the team from Milan would no doubt have one of the best offensive lines in the world.
Apart from Inter, Bayern Munich is also chasing Werner, but chances of seeing him in Bavaria are minimal, as he already turned down the possibility of playing there in the past. The competition in the attack is pretty strong, and also, allegedly, Werner isn’t a great fan of the most dominant German club and isn’t willing to wear its jersey.
The situation on Werner’s future will be much clearer in the next few days.
