NCAA Tournament Elite Eight Round Betting Preview – East Region:

Michigan State Spartans (2)
Duke Blue Devils (1)

The East Region is the only one left that has the top two seeds remaining, and Michigan State and Duke will meet for a chance to advance to the Final Four. Many people predicted that this would be the matchup, and this game should be a thriller. Both teams are dealing with injury concerns heading into this game.

Michigan State blew out LSU in their Elite Eight victory, while Duke had a tight battle with conference foe, Virginia Tech. Duke was the ACC Tournament Champion this season, while Michigan State won the Big Ten Tournament. Duke is a -1.5 point favorite over Michigan State in this game.

Michigan State has been winning games with their experience all season long, but a pair of freshmen led the way in their Elite Eight victory. Aaron Henry and Gabe Brown combined for 35 points in the Spartans win over LSU, and both of them hit big shots all game long. If Michigan State gets production from them again, they will be hard to beat.

Cassius Winston has been the main man for Michigan State all season long, leading the team with 18.9 points and 7.6 assists per game. The Spartans did lose forward Nick Ward to injury in the victory, and his status for this game is unknown. Even if Ward is unable to play, the Spartans have enough talent to win.

Duke was also missing a key piece to their puzzle in the Elite Eight, as Cam Reddish sat out the game with a knee injury. The loss of Reddish is a big blow for the Blue Devils who struggle to shoot to begin with. Point guard Tre Jones stepped up in the win over Virginia Tech, going 5-7 from the three-point line.

Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett have been the stars of college basketball this season, and both players are averaging more than 22 points per game. Barrett and Williamson make a living in the paint, but that might not work against a physical Michigan State team. Duke is no stranger to the Elite Eight, but this team lacks experience.

Michigan State vs. Duke Betting Pick

michigan state spartans vs duke blue devils
This will be the most highly anticipated Elite Eight game of the weekend, and it should be tight throughout. Duke has been surviving with last second wins in each of their last two games, while Michigan State has been dominating opponents. The Blue Devils might have more athleticism, but Michigan State has more toughness and size.

Duke has been lucky in the last two rounds, but their luck will run out in this game. Michigan State is just playing too well, and their experience will carry them to the Final Four with a win over Duke. It’s going to be tight throughout, but the Spartans will move on.

The pick in this game is the Michigan State Spartans +1.5 over the Duke Blue Devils.
