MLB 2020 Odds

New York Yankees +350
Los Angeles Dodgers +600
Houston Astros +700
Atlanta Braves +1000
New York Mets +1400

The current BetOnline favourites in the betting to win the MLB World Series this season are currently the New York Yankees. No other team has won as many titles as the Yankees, but they will be looking to go one better from last season as they lost to the Astros in the League Championship Series. The Dodgers are the second favourites after the eventual World Series winners beat them in the Division Series stage last season.

Pressure On Astros After Post-Season Saga

The Houston Astros are a very short price in the betting at present, but they will be many peoples picks to struggle this season after the fallout from the sign-stealing saga. The findings from the MLB ensured that A.J Hinch and Jeff Luhnow lost their positions as manager and general manager, respectively. The fallout from the baseball world was huge, as they reportedly used electronics to steal their opponents’ signs throughout the 2017 season.

There are also growing concerns for their squad, as Gerrit Cole will be a huge miss as he swapped the Astros for the Yankees. Meanwhile, Justin Verlander isn’t getting any younger, and there are concerns that his best seasons could be behind him. All of these factors could lead to the Astros missing out on the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Yankees Are Strongest Contenders

The Yankees are the favourites for one very simple reason- there aren’t many question marks surrounding their roster. The addition of Cole from the Astros has ensured a seismic shift in the power in MLB. He is one of the best pitchers in the league and has added a new dynamic to the most complete side in baseball on paper. He had an ERA of 2.50 last season and was only beaten on five starts for the Astros. That is the sort of winning quality that the Yankees will hope can continue.

There have been many examples of teams having all the quality that’s needed to win the World Series, before falling short when the pressure was really on. But, there isn’t any impression that this Yankees side are going to fall down at the same hurdles. The Yankees went throughout the 2010s without a World Series championship, but that baron run will come to an end this season.
