Event Details

The Xfinity 500 was first staged back in 1949, and it is the oldest race on the NASCAR Cup Series calendar. It has been staged as the ninth race of the playoffs throughout its history, and there have been some memorable editions of the race. Drivers will complete a total distance of 263 miles, which is made up of 500 laps. The first two stages will both be completed over 130 laps, while the final stage will see the remaining 240 laps completed.

Four drivers are tied for the most race wins in this event, with Jimmie Johnson, Darrell Waltrip, Jeff Gordon, and Richard Petty all winning on six occasions. Hendrick Motorsports is the most successful team, with 18 victories. Meanwhile, Chevrolet is the leading manufacturer, having claimed victory on 32 occasions.

Leading Contenders

It promises to be among the most exciting conclusions to a NASCAR season in many years.

There are less than 60 points separating the top eight drivers in the standings, with Joey Logano currently leading the way with 4106 points. However, Ross Chastain is just five points off the lead, and Chase Elliott remains within touching distance back in third.

Chastain moved up to second in the standings last weekend, as he finished as the runner-up for the second straight race. However, it was all about Kyle Larson’s dominance in the Dixie Vodka 400 last time out. Last season’s champion led for the most laps, but ultimately, the victory counts for very little as he is already eliminated.

Chastain was the only driver in the top eight to finish in the top five last weekend, with the next-best finisher being Denny Hamlin, who finished seventh. The pressure will be on Chase Briscoe this weekend, as he sits eighth in the standings after finishing 36th last weekend.

Xfinity 500 Pick and Prediction

Like most NASCAR races this term, this is a race that could go in any direction. However, we like the chances of Chase Elliott bouncing back to winning ways. He previously won this race in 2020 on his way to winning the Drivers’ Championship.
