The 2022 Peach Bowl features a matchup between the 13-0 Bulldogs and the 11-1 Buckeyes. Georgia are the defending champions, and made the CFP for the 2nd consecutive season this year. Meanwhile, Ohio State backed into the CFP field, following a bad loss to previous #4, USC. They’ll need to bounce-back significantly from how they played against Michigan to have a shot against Georgia.

Game Preview
Georgia completed a perfect regular season with a dominant win in the SEC title game over LSU. They’ve now won 31 of their last 32 games, dating back to 2020. The Bulldogs will have a chance to become the first team in CFP history to win back to back championships. Before they can focus on defending their title, they’ll need to get past a scrappy Ohio State team. Georgia had very little issue dominating most of the teams on their schedule, though a 26-22 win over Missouri presents some areas to improve on.

Ohio State crept into the playoff as the only team to make it despite not participating in a conference championship game. An undefeated schedule leading up to their final game against Michigan helped to sell the Buckeyes’ case. With only a handful of ranked wins under their belt this season, Ohio State will need to study what worked on the road against #11 Penn State in their 44-31 victory, which was their strongest win the of year. QB C.J. Stroud will get an NFL-esque challenge against a very tough Georgia defense.
Georgia vs Ohio State Prediction
It’s interesting to me that of the two CFP games, this is the one with the closer spread, despite it being the #1 vs #4 matchup. I’m not sure if people are underestimating TCU and Georgia, or overestimating Michigan and Ohio State, but something isn’t right. Ohio State is a perennially competitive team, but they are mismatched here. Their loss against Michigan proved they’re not at the same level as the nation’s very best this year, and Georgia’s wins over Oregon and Tennessee prove the opposite. I see Georgia winning confidently.
