Then there were four. The two NFL teams that will compete in the Super Bowl will be decided over the coming weekend as the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Tennessee Titans. Both sides have done remarkably well to get to this point, but which team will seize the initiative and reach the pinnacle of the American football calendar?

Titans Bidding For Second Super Bowl Appearance
This will be the fifth time that the Tennessee Titans have competed in the AFC Championship match but will be their first time since 2003. Punters have to go back three years earlier for their only win in the AFC Championship Game, which resulted in their one and only Super Bowl appearance. This could be their year to upset the odds once again, as they have made a name for themselves in this year’s playoffs for doing just that.
The Titans shocked the world by overcoming the New England Patriots in the opening round. Their 20-13 win away from home was thoroughly deserved, and certainly opened the door for every side hoping to win this half of the NFL playoffs. They backed this up with another high-quality display against the Baltimore Ravens, and they have won their last three including their closing regular-season game against the Texans.
Comeback Kings Hoping For Further NFL Success
The Kansas City Chiefs have made a name for themselves throughout the playoffs as the comeback kings and for good reason. They are on a roll after winning their last seven, but they certainly had to do that the hard way last weekend as they trailed 24-0 against the Houston Texans. However, they were in inspired form to reverse that and eventually record a 51-31 success.
The Chiefs are certainly one of the best teams to watch this season. Pat Mahomes has saved his best form for the closing weeks of the season, and in that success against the Texans, he recorded 321 passing yards and contributed towards five touchdowns. He is averaging 247.5 passing yards per game in the post-season, and his form could be the pivotal factor in the Chiefs are to record a win and reach the NFL Super Bowl.
Head To Head
These two sides have met on 53 occasions including their meeting when the Tennessee Titans were known as the Houston Oilers. In the overall record, the Chiefs hold the advantage having won on 29 occasions, compared to the 24 wins recorded by the Titans. That winning record is also the same when it comes to their post-season head to head fixtures, as the Chiefs have won two of their three meetings.
However, the Titans will be boosted by the fact that they have won the last four meetings, which means the Chiefs haven’t beaten them since 2013. There has been an average of 40.6 points scored per match over the last three fixtures.
The fact that the Titans have already overcome the Patriots in the post-season makes this an enticing fixture, but this really does have the feeling as being the moment that the Chiefs have been building up to. Mahomes will be crucial, and if he performs to his highest level, Kansas City could win by double digits.
Prediction: Kansas City Chiefs -7.5 (-105)
