NFL Predictions

The Colts lost a divisional matchup at home against the Titans last week. After trailing 14-0 in the first quarter, Indianapolis was never really in contention to win the game, despite a 24-17 final score. Star running back Jonathan Taylor was held to just 42 yards on 20 runs against one of the NFL’s worst run defenses. The Colts offense ranks dead last in scoring, averaging about 14 points per game.

Denver lost 32-23 against the Raiders on Sunday, dropping to 2-2 on the season. The loss was the Broncos’ first game of the season where the defense was unable to keep an underperforming offense in contention. 2nd-year running back Javonte Williams suffered a season-ending ACL injury, only worsening their offensive woes. Expect the Broncos to sneak by at home in a close defensive game.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Broncos 20, Colts 16 (DEN -1.5)

NFL Predictions

The Giants defeated the Bears 20-12 on Sunday, improving to 3-1 on the season for the first time since 2011. New York saw injuries during the game to both starting quarterback Daniel Jones (ankle) and backup quarterback Tyrod Taylor (concussion), leading to Saquon Barkley taking wildcat snaps at QB late in the game. The Giants defense will have to continue to carry a depleted offense.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers (12) throws an incomplete pass during the second quarter of their game Sunday, October 2, 2022 at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wis. The Green Bay Packers beat the New England Patriots 27-24 in overtime.

Packers02 10
Mark Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

Green Bay held off the Patriots in overtime on Sunday. It was a bit of a concerning game for the Packers, who faced New England’s 3rd-string quarterback, Bailey Zappe. The defense allowed Zappe to have a strong game, and almost wound up losing to him. The Packers will attempt to avoid a similar struggle against the scrappy Giants in London. I think they’ll win, but covering isn’t a lock.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Packers 23, Giants 16 (GB -4.5)

NFL Predictions

The Steelers lost at home against the Jets on Sunday. The loss dropped them to 1-3 on the season, and created major concerns at the quarterback position. After another mediocre start from Mitchell Trubisky, Pittsburgh finally turned to 2022 1st-round pick Kenny Pickett. While Pickett did throw 3 interceptions, his other 10 passes were all completed, indicating some real upside in the young QB.

Buffalo beat the Ravens in Baltimore, 23-20, improving to 3-1. After dominating their first two games of the season, the past two games have been a bit closer matched. The Bills may have seemed less dominant in the past couple of weeks, but a 3-1 record with road games against the Rams, Dolphins, and Ravens under their belt is pretty impressive. They should have no trouble in Week 5.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Bills 27, Steelers 12 (BUF -14.0)

Los Angeles Chargers vs Cleveland Browns

NFL Predictions

The Chargers defeated the Texans 34-24 in Week 4, improving to a record of 2-2. After leading 27-7 at halftime, they eased up a little bit too early, allowing Houston to climb back into the game. In the end, Los Angeles was still able to seal the deal and get the win. Running back Austin Ekeler found the end zone for the first time this season, finishing the day with 3 touchdowns and 119 yards.

Cleveland lost in Atlanta on Sunday, falling to 2-2. The loss came despite another great performance from running back Nick Chubb, who leads the AFC with 459 rushing yards through 4 games. The Browns still have 7 more games to play before the return of quarterback Deshaun Watson. In the meantime, Jacoby Brissett will take on a stringent Chargers defense for his 5th start of the year.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Chargers 27, Browns 23 (LAC -2.5)

Chicago Bears vs Minnesota Vikings

NFL Predictions

The Bears lost to the Giants on Sunday, dropping to 2-2. The offense once again struggled to produce, as quarterback Justin Fields continues to have a really hard time in the NFL. The Bears defense was unable to stop Daniel Jones on bootleg runs, allowing the Giants to muster just enough offense to outscore them. They’ll likely have another hard time against a strong Vikings defense.

Minnesota improved to 3-1 on the season, thanks to a 28-25 win over the Saints in New Orleans. After being mostly quiet in the past two games, star wide receiver Justin Jefferson got back on track in this one, finishing with 10 catches for 147 yards. The Vikings have an opportunity to improve to 4-1 for the first time since 2012 with this matchup against the Bears. They should get the win.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Vikings 25, Bears 13 (MIN -4.0)

Detroit Lions vs New England Patriots

NFL Predictions

The Lions lost 48-45 in a shootout against the Seahawks on Sunday. Despite not having starting running back DeAndre Swift, or top wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and D.J. Chark, the Lions put up another frenzy on offense. They now lead the NFL with 140 points scored in 4 games. Tight end TJ Hockenson finished with 8 catches for 179 yards and 2 TDs, but the defense still couldn’t hold.

After losing starting quarterback Mac Jones to an injury last week, the Patriots lost backup QB Brian Hoyer at the start of Week 4’s loss against the Packers. Taking up the mantle would be 2022 4th-round pick out of Western Kentucky, Bailey Zappe. To the surprise of many, Zappe played well, finishing 10 for 15 for 99 yards and a TD. He’ll be tasked with matching a surging Lions offense next.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Lions 30, Patriots 24 (DET +3.0)

Seattle Seahawks vs New Orleans Saints

Schedule

NFL Predictions

The Seahawks raced past the Lions in a 48-45 offensive gauntlet last week. They improved to 2-2 on the season, led by starting quarterback Geno Smith, who finished the game 23 for 30 for 320 yards, 2 passing TDs, and 1 rushing TD. Running back Rashaad Penny also had a big game, adding 151 rushing yards and 2 TDs on 17 carries. Seattle will face a much stronger Saints defense next.

New Orleans lost to the Vikings on Sunday, dropping to 1-3. The Saints are now 0-2 at home, and will look to get their first home win of the season against a Seahawks team that has exceeded expectations so far. New Orleans desperately needs the return of dynamic running back Alvin Kamara and top wide receiver Michael Thomas, who missed the past two games due to injury.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Saints 22, Seahawks 19 (SEA +5.0)

Miami Dolphins vs New York Jets

NFL Predictions

The Dolphins lost to the Bengals 27-15 on Thursday. The story in Miami this week wasn’t about the loss, but rather about the Dolphins’ horrific handling of Tua Tagovailoa’s head injury. After collapsing in Sunday’s Week 3 game against the Bills, Tua should have never seen the field 4 days later. Yet, Miami allowed him to play, and another scary hit to his head knocked him out of the game.

New York upset the Steelers in Pittsburgh on Sunday, improving to 2-2 for the first time since 2017. The Jets got the win thanks to some gritty defensive play that forced four Steelers turnovers. 2nd-year QB Zach Wilson made his debut on Sunday. He started the game out 7 for 20 for 106 yards and 2 INTs, before eventually going 11 for 16 for 146 yards and a TD for the remainder of the game.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Dolphins 23, Jets 21 (NYJ +3.5)

Atlanta Falcons vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Schedule

  • When: Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 1 p.m ET

Vegas Odds

NFL Predictions

The Falcons defeated the Browns 23-20 on Sunday, winning their 2nd consecutive game and improving to 2-2. Despite quarterback Marcus Mariota only completing 7 passes all game, the Falcons managed to score 23 points and win the game. The defense forced some costly turnovers that allowed Atlanta to take advantage of some short fields. They’ll have a major test against the Bucs up next.

Tampa Bay fell 41-31 on Sunday night against the Chiefs. It’s hard to fault any team for a loss at the hands of Patrick Mahomes, but the Buccaneers allowing 41 points to anyone at home is extremely concerning. With a banged up offense, Tampa Bay has relied on their dominant defense early on in the season. If they don’t bounce back soon, Brady and the offense will need to pick up the slack.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Buccaneers 20, Falcons 13 (ATL +10.0)

Tennessee Titans vs Washington Commanders

Schedule

  • When: Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 1 p.m ET
  • Where: FedEx Field, Landover, MD
  • How to Watch: CBS

Vegas Odds

NFL Predictions

The Titans defeated the Colts 24-17 on the road, improving to 2-2 after a rough 0-2 start to the season. Following a 12-5 season and #1 seed in the AFC, Tennessee’s high hopes for this season were roughed up a bit in weeks 1 and 2. That being said, with Derrick Henry starting to get going in the past two weeks, they’ll have a real shot to improve to 3-2 against the struggling Commanders.

Washington lost 25-10 against Dallas on Sunday. Their defense was unable to put much pressure on backup quarterback Cooper Rush, and the offense was even more concerning. Carson Wentz managed to throw for only 170 yards on 42 pass attempts, turning the ball over twice as well. The Commanders have looked awful since Week 1, and are in desperate need of a win they likely won’t get.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Titans 23, Commanders 17 (TEN -2.0)

Houston Texans vs Jacksonville Jaguars

Schedule

  • When: Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 1 p.m ET

Vegas Odds

NFL Predictions

The Texans lost to the Chargers 34-24 on Sunday. Though they made things close towards the end, Houston was never really in the game, falling behind 27-7 in the first half. After leading the Colts 20-3 for the first 3 quarters of the season, the Texans have been outscored 90-53. They’re now the NFL’s final winless team, and things won’t get much easier this week in Jacksonville.

Jacksonville quickly jumped out to a 14-0 lead against the Eagles on Sunday, but eventually lost the game 29-21. Allowing 29 unanswered points was the first crack the Jaguars defense showed since their Week 1 loss against the Commanders. Though they’ve had some vast improvements this season, Jacksonville still has some work to do. They should be able to handle Houston.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Jaguars 27, Texans 17 (JAX -7.0)

San Francisco 49ers vs Carolina Panthers

NFL Predictions

The 49ers defeated the Rams 24-9 on Monday night, improving to 2-2 on the season. With Jimmy Garoppolo at the helm, the offense looked imperfect, but still much improved from when the inexperienced Trey Lance was starting. San Francisco’s defense led the way again, changing the game on a pick six by Talanoa Hufanga. They’ve held the opponent to 11 or fewer points in three straight games.

Carolina lost to the Cardinals 26-16 at home on Sunday. They dropped to 1-3 on the season. After an encouraging win in Week 3 against the Saints, the Panthers were hoping to build some momentum, but did the opposite. Quarterback Baker Mayfield finished 22 for 36 for 197 yards, 1 TD, and 2 INTs. Standout linebacker Frankie Luvu and the Panthers defense have carried the team thus far.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

49ers 16, Panthers 12 (CAR +6.5)

Dallas Cowboys vs Los Angeles Rams

NFL Predictions

The Cowboys had no trouble knocking off Washington on Sunday, winning by a score of 25-10. Backup quarterback Cooper Rush improved to 4-0 as a starter, but could be headed back to a bench role with Dak Prescott possibly returning from injury in Week 5. If he does, he’ll face a very tough Rams defense in his first game back. Could a bad loss create a quarterback controversy in Dallas?

Los Angeles fell 24-9 against the 49ers in a rough loss. The Rams are now 1-7 against the 49ers since 2018. While Cooper Kupp continues another impressive season, finishing the game with 14 catches for 122 yards, the rest of the Rams offense has struggled all year. After throwing for 254 yards and no TDs on 48 attempts, Matthew Stafford will have another tough matchup against Dallas.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Rams 23, Cowboys 20 (DAL +5.5)

Philadelphia Eagles vs Arizona Cardinals

Schedule

  • When: Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 4:25 p.m ET

NFL Predictions

The Eagles bounced back from a 14-0 deficit against the Jaguars on Sunday, scoring 29 unanswered points en route to their 4th straight win. Philadelphia is now the NFL’s lone undefeated team. Many people speculated about how good the Eagles could be this season. A rapidly improving defense and dynamic offense led by QB Jalen Hurts has them looking like real Super Bowl contenders.

Arizona defeated the Panthers 26-16, earning a much-needed win. The Cardinals have just 2 more games left without star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, before he returns from his suspension. In the meantime, the Cardinals newest major acquisition, Marquise Brown, has led the way as Kyler Murray’s favorite target. He finished with 6 catches for 88 yards and a TD in Sunday’s win.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Eagles 28, Cardinals 22 (PHI -3.5)

Cincinnati Bengals vs Baltimore Ravens

Schedule

  • When: Sunday, October 9, 2022, at 8:20 p.m ET
  • Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
  • How to Watch: NBC

Vegas Odds

NFL Predictions

The Bengals defeated the Dolphins 27-15 on Thursday, their second consecutive win. Cincinnati has gotten things back on track after starting out the season 0-2. They’ll head to Baltimore for a major divisional matchup against the 2-2 Ravens for potential control of the AFC North division. Wide receiver Tee Higgins led the way on Thursday, finishing with 7 catches for 124 yards and a TD.

Baltimore lost 23-20 against the Bills, despite leading for much of the game. The Ravens will have a chance to bounce back on Sunday night. Lamar Jackson has been exceptional, but his receiving corps is pretty thin, pushing Baltimore towards the ground game. On Sunday, they rushed for 162 yards, but passed for just 134. The passing game must improve against Cincinnati.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Ravens 27, Bengals 26 (CIN +3.5)

Las Vegas Raiders vs Kansas City Chiefs

NFL Predictions

The Raiders got their first win of the season on Sunday, defeating the Broncos 32-23 and avoiding an 0-4 start. Las Vegas owes their win to running back Josh Jacobs, who finished the game with 175 total yards and 2 touchdowns. The Raiders offense has been solid to start the season. If they can get a more cohesive effort on defense, they could still climb back up in the AFC West standings.

Kansas City blew by the Buccaneers on Sunday night, winning 41-31. They were once again dominant on offense, not missing a single beat against the defense that entered the week ranked #1. It wasn’t all great for the Chiefs, who allowed a struggling Tampa Bay offense to climb back into the game, but overall, they were dominant. It’s hard to imagine them slowing down anytime soon.

NFL Las Vegas Picks:

Chiefs 37, Raiders 29 (KC -4.0)
