A matchup between 2-0 teams will take place in Los Angeles on Sunday, as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers come into town to tussle with the LA Rams. Both teams are on the shortlist of Super Bowl contenders this season and will look to prove themselves as such with a win here. While the Bucs have already proven themselves to be championship material, this will be a huge litmus test for the new-look Rams.

Game Preview

Buccaneers Still Fine Tuning Things

There is no such thing as a bad 2-0 start in the NFL, as a start like that will do wonders for a team’s playoff chances. But for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, there are clearly some things to improve on despite their hot start. Specifically, the defense of the Buccaneers appears to be in need of some work as they have looked vulnerable over the first couple of weeks in a pair of home wins.

Specifically, the concern with the Buccaneers’ defense has stemmed from their victory over the Atlanta Falcons. While the Bucs won by a large margin, thanks to two late interceptions that were returned for touchdowns, they let the Falcons hang around for most of that game. Against a team with a passing attack like the Rams, Tampa will not be able to afford another defensive performance like that one.

Rams In For a Test of Stafford

Things have gone well so far in Los Angeles during the Matt Stafford era, with the Rams winning each of their first two games with him leading the offense. After a strong start in Week 1 against the Chicago Bears, the Rams followed that up with a quality win over the Indianapolis Colts. But a matchup against the defending champions will be a great test to see how far the Rams have really come.

The common refrain during Matt Stafford’s tenure with the Detroit Lions was that he was good against bad teams, and struggled against high-level competition. We are going to see just how true that is with the Rams, as Stafford is going to have to play at a high level to keep up with the powerful Tampa Bay offense. If he can avoid turnovers and continue finding Cooper Kupp at will, the Rams just might be able to beat the Super Bowl champions.

NFL Picks This Week:

Who will win this Week 3 NFL game:

The betting line for this game has moved significantly in the favor of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but that might not be warranted at all. The Rams have looked just as good as the Bucs, and are at home for a game that should have a great atmosphere. Expect the Rams to come away with the victory here, and to cover the spread as an underdog.
