What is Happening in Kansas City?
One of the most electrifying offenses in all of football, the Chiefs were held in check all night Sunday night. There was never a moment in the game where the Chiefs looked like they were in control of what was happening.
Granted, the Bills may have played the best game of the year; that’s what happens to a team like Kansas City, who has had so much success over the last few years; they are going to get every team’s best effort.
With an early injury to the Chief’s running back, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Mahomes was forced to pass all of the time. Unfortunately, he had a rather off evening, completing 33 of 54 attempts for 272 yards. He threw two touchdowns but also threw two interceptions, with one of them being returned for a touchdown.
The defense for Kansas City was decent in the first quarter, and then the flood gates opened in the second. The secondary was picked apart almost the whole game, giving up 315 yards and three touchdowns through the air.
The Chiefs are starting to get into the must-win territory before changes are going to be made.
When Does Heinicke Move Back to the Bench?
The story of Taylor Heinicke is great. A story of perseverance and playing the game with a chip on his shoulder to finally getting the chance to make plays for the Football Team. Unfortunately, that story has started to wear off, and Heinicke is going to need to start producing results on the field, or questions about the future are going to start to be asked.
If there was one positive about this football team, it would be their second year running back Antonio Gibson. Playing through an injury this past weekend, Gibson still managed to carry the football 20 times, accruing 60 yards, and score two touchdowns. This two-touchdown game gave Gibson his first multi-score game of the year and put him in the endzone in back-to-back games.
The defense was supposed to be the bright spot this year with all of the big names on that side of the ball. Unfortunately, that is just not the current case in Washington, as they gave up almost 300 yards and four touchdowns to Winston in the air this past weekend.
If the Football Team can not keep Winston in check, who only threw it 30 times, they are going to be in for a long Sunday when Mahomes and the Chiefs come to town.
