Packers vs Bengals Preview
Packs Extending the Winning Streak
Green Bay opened the year with a frustrating 38-3 defeat in New Orleans. At that points, everyone predicted a very bad campaign for Matt LeFleur’s boys. However, Rodgers and the boys bounced back, as they usually do, and after this nasty experience, won three times in a row.
Their first victims were the Detroit Lions, after that the San Francisco 49ers on the road, and finally last week, the Steelers at Lambeau. Rodgers is slower than expected in these four rounds, as he only has 897 yards with eight TDs and two picks.
What we don’t like is the fact that the Packs average only 333.8 yards from the scrimmage, just 92.5 on the ground. Aaron Jones has 206 rushing yards in four matches, and we can say that Jamaal Williams’ departure took a toll here. AJ Dillon didn’t meet the expectations so far, and the entire burden is on Jones.
Bengals’ Reality Check
Cinci is 3-1 so far, but all of their wins were against the sub-.500 teams. The first one was after OT vs. Vikings, then on the road against the Steelers, and finally on the previous Thursday Night Football against the Jags. In between, the Bengals narrowly lost to the Bears at Soldier Field, 20-17.
So the match against the Packers is a reality check for the Bengals. We are going to see where they really stand compared to one of the top teams in the NFL and whether they have the potential to reach the postseason this year.
The defense will test its power against the NFL MVP and arguably the best running back in the league last year. The most efficient, at least in terms of scoring. For now, the Bengals allowed 18.8 points, but that is against, as we said, sub-.500 teams.
Packers vs Bengals Head to Head
The Packers won at home back in 2017 in the last meeting, 27-24. This victory came following overtime.
NFL Picks This Week:
Who will win tonight’s NFL game:
The Packers are -3 favorites, and for us, this is a sure pick. We are not underestimating Bengals in any way here, but they simply don’t have the power to resist a terrific offense like the Packers’. Cinci had trouble stopping Jacksonville, now imagine what Rodgers can do to them. In our opinion, the bookmakers overestimated the hosts. Green Bay is a much better unit in all aspects of the game.
