The Bengals defeated the Bills 27-10 on Sunday to become the third AFC North team to reach back-to-back Conference Championship games. Joining the 2004-05 Pittsburgh Steelers and the 2011-12 Baltimore Ravens in achieving the landmark. Quarterback Joe Burrow was imperious against the Bills, throwing 23 completions for 242 yards and 2 touchdowns while RB Joe Mixon added an impressive 105 yards and 1 score on 20 carries. Cincinnati’s rookie cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt left with the game ball after an impressive performance, his pass disruption skills were on full display and the young defenseman grabbed the only interception of the game to seal the win deep in the 4th quarter.
The Chiefs overcame the Jaguars 20-27 in a tight, back-and-forth encounter on Saturday to set up a second Conference Championship encounter with the Bengals in a row and their 5th consecutive appearance in the AFC championship game. Despite suffering a high ankle sprain late in the first quarter, QB Patrick Mahomes was able to return to the game and guide his team home. Mahomes won’t be back to full fitness for this crucial encounter but the chances of him not starting under center are very slim given his importance to the Chiefs.
Bengals vs Chiefs Prediction
The Chiefs would probably have gone into this game as favorites with the bookmakers if it wasn’t for Mahomes’ injury but that still wouldn’t have changed my prediction for this matchup. The Bengals are red hot and I can’t see them being stopped here.
