NFL Schedule Release: San Francisco 49ers 2021 Schedule

Jimmy Garoppolo or Trey Lance to start? That is one of the biggest questions going into this year after they gave up so much to go and get him with the 3rd overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Jimmy G is a more than competent QB who will keep them moving and he does look great when things are going well, but if the team needs him for a game-winning drive then he can’t always be relied upon.

He’s also had his injury issues over the years so that may come into things, so it’s very possible that he starts the season before handing over the keys later on.

They have lost their outstanding defensive coordinator in Robert Saleh but they get some huge names back from injury, so Nick Bosa and Arik Armstead are an outstanding rush duo, especially when they are backed up by Dee Ford.

The O-line is bolstered by the addition of Alex Mack and retaining Trent Williams was also a major coup, so expect the 49ers to look more like the team that came within a drive of being Super Bowl champs.

They do start with two road games but they are both very winnable, and it’s easy to see them going 4-0 from those openers if they start well.

On the flip side there’s real chance that Jimmy G is pulled during the bye week Lance could start against the Colts in week 7, so it’s a situation to keep an eye on.
