NFL Week 1 Predictions, Vegas Odds, Schedule for Every Game

  • Week 1 kicks off on September 9
  • Fans should be in attendance in every ground
  • Monday night doubleheader no longer in the schedule

The new NFL season is finally upon us after a three-game pre-season for most teams, while we should also see large crowds attending every game so it’s expected that the atmosphere and general spectacle will be vastly improved compared to last year.

The Super Bowl winners will play the first game on the Thursday night as is tradition, and it’s an interesting matchup as the Dallas Cowboys come to town looking for a big upset:

Dallas Cowboys vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Schedule

  • Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida
  • When: Thurday, September 9, 8:20PM ET
  • How to watch: NBC

Odds

The reigning champs are the heavy favorites to start off with a win, while any traditional slow-start to the season from Tom Brady should be offset by there being minimal changes in the playing personnel after winning the Super Bowl.

Dallas’ defense may have improved slightly but it will need to be outstanding to produce an upset here, while Dak Prescott is still working his way back from a season-ending injury so it’s hard to see the Cowboys taking the W here.

Predicted winner: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Arizona Cardinals vs Tennessee Titans

Schedule

  • Where: Nissan Stadium, Nashville, Tennessee
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

There are reasons to like both teams in this one and it’s reflected with the early spread being set at 3 points, but the Titans are the obvious favorites due to their record over the past two years.

Both teams come in with a supreme running threat but it’s done in different ways, Kyler Murray is hard to keep in the pocket and his elusiveness could be effective if we see some early-season tackling, while Derrick Henry will simply run everyone over if he’s given the chance.

Predicted winner: Tennessee Titans

Jacksonville Jaguars vs Houston Texans

Schedule

  • Where: NRG Stadium, Houston, Texas
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

There may be no such thing as an easy game in the NFL, but Trevor Lawrence must be delighted to come up against a Houston team in absolute turmoil in his opener.

You can argue that this increased expectation on him could cause some jitters and a Texans team with nothing to lose and little expectation could always be dangerous, while the situation with Deshaun Watson also makes this a tough one to analyze.

Jacksonville are the favorites for this, and a heavy win to send the Texans into a tanking season can’t be ruled out.

Predicted winner: Jacksonville Jaguars

Los Angeles Chargers vs Washington Football Team

Schedule

  • Where: FedEx Field, Greater Landover, MD
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

The early spread is set at one point for this game, while Washington show as slight favorites but there’s a genuine feeling that this could go either way.

WFT come in with an excellent defense and there’s a hope that Ryan Fitzpatrick sprinkles some of his magic on the offense to turn them into a real force, while the Chargers have the outstanding Justin Herbert who’s looking to build on a brilliant rookie campaign.

This one is too close to call, and don’t be surprised if there’s only a field goal or less between them.

Predicted winner: Washington Football Team

Minnesota Vikings vs Cincinnati Bengals

Schedule

  • Where: Paul Brown Stadium, Cincinnati, Ohio
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

These are two teams who need to improve on last season, but the general feeling is that Cincinnati are still trying to rebuild while the Vikings are simply trying to bounce back from a bad year.

Minnesota come in as the favorites and you have to fancy that their defense will be able to get after Joe Burrow, but the over/under is set at 48 points so there should be plenty of action in this one.

Predicted winner: Minnesota Vikings

New York Jets vs Carolina Panthers

Schedule

  • Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, NC
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

The Sam Darnold revenge game! There will be efforts to downplay this from both sides in the buildup, but there’s no doubt that Darnold would love to get his first win as a Panther against a team who should’ve done more to help him.

His heir is Zach Wilson who will have a solid O-line to operate behind so he’s already in a much better place than Darnold was, but Carolina are heavily favored to come out of this with the win.

Predicted winner: Carolina Panthers

Philadelphia Eagles vs Atlanta Falcons

Schedule

  • Where: Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta, Georgia
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

There’s a lot to be excited about going into this, with the Eagles going all-in on Jalen Hurts and Atlanta potentially taking a generational talent in Kyle Pitts.

Hurts has looked elusive in his play but there’s a worry that he could simply be a placeholder before another QB can be taken in the draft, but Carson Wentz was hurting them last season so it looks like the right call.

Atlanta are the heavy favorites to win this and their offense should see plenty of success in this one.

Predicted winner: Atlanta Falcons

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Buffalo Bills

Schedule

  • Where: Highmark Stadium, Orchard Park, NY
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

It’s probably a push to refer to the Steelers as Super Bowl contenders at this stage, but the Bills are the real deal as they come into the season as the third favorites to win it all.

Buffalo are heavy favorites to win this matchup and it will be fun to see if they are hurt by the loss in the AFC Championship last season, or if we should just expect more of the same as they look to go one further.

Expect Steelers rookie Najee Harris to look promising in this game as he’s a valuable asset in the run game and as a dump-off option, but it won’t be enough.

Predicted winner: Buffalo Bills

Seattle Seahawks vs Indianapolis Colts

Schedule

  • Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

As expected with two teams who should be making the playoffs, the spread is set at only 2.5 points and this should be a tight affair.

The Colts have one of the most well-rounded rosters in the league but the QB position is a constant issue, and time will tell what version of Carson Wentz they get.

Seattle didn’t have much draft capital this year and they did lose some key pieces in free agency, but they also have Russell Wilson and that is why they are listed as the favorites for this one.

Predicted winner: Indianapolis Colts

San Francisco 49ers vs Detroit Lions

Schedule

  • Where: Ford Field, Detroit, Michigan
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

A blowout defeat for Detroit is the expectation here, but there is a lot here for football fans to be interested in if the game turns into a formality early on.

How will Jared Goff fare without Sean McVay whispering in his ear the whole time? You would expect him to sink, but perhaps we can be generous and say he’s ready to make it on his own and he might surprise a few people.

Will Jimmy G start and look impressive for San Francisco? Or will it be a case of building up a list of reasons to eventually turn it over to Trey Lance?

Predicted winner: San Francisco 49ers

Cleveland Browns vs Kansas City Chiefs

Schedule

  • Where: Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas, Missouri
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 4:25PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

This is a strong contender to be the game of week 1, and it’s a rematch of their playoff game last year which Cleveland really should’ve won after Patrick Mahomes was forced off the field.

The over/under market is set at 52.5 points so points are clearly expected here, but it’s all going to come down to Cleveland running the ball well and somewhat keeping a lid on the Kansas offense.

If they can do that and still be in the game going into the fourth quarter, then they could get an unlikely win as the underdog.

Predicted winner: Cleveland Browns

Denver Broncos vs New York Giants

Schedule

  • Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, NJ
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 4:25PM Et
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

The spread opened at one point which represents how evenly-matched this game will be, with both sides looking good on the defensive side of the ball while QB is a big problem.

Daniel Jones may be in a now-or-never situation as he continues to underwhelm, while last season saw him throw 13 fewer TD’s than his rookie year.

Denver appear to be holding out for Aaron Rodgers next year so they’ll have to make do with Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock, so expect defenses to come out on top here.

Predicted winner: Denver Broncos

Green Bay Packers vs New Orleans Saints

Schedule

  • Where: Caesars Superdome, New Orleans, Louisiana
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 4:25PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

In years gone by this would’ve been a mouth-watering prospect to open the season, but the Saints are now in the post- Drew Brees era and their play will surely drop off.

Jameis Winston will need to show that he’s not the turnover machine from Tampa Bay while Taysom Hill still looks more like a gimmick than a starting QB, so it’s understandable that Green Bay are the favorites, especially when Aaron Rodgers is desperate to show how good he is.

Predicted winner: Green Bay Packers

Miami Dolphins vs New England Patriots

Schedule

  • Where: Gillette Stadium, Foxborough, Mass
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 4:25PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

It’s a repeat of last season’s opener for both sides, and it was the Patriots who won that with a strong defensive display and plenty of running from Cam Newton.

The big question for the home team comes down to that starting QB as Mac Jones showed more poise than Newton in his pre-season debut, but it would be a big test.

Miami are now all-in on Tua and will look to get over the line and make the playoffs this year, but it’s the Pats who are favored to win this.

Predicted winner: New England Patriots

Chicago Bears vs Los Angeles Rams

Schedule

  • Where: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, California
  • When: Sunday, September 12, 8:20PM ET
  • How to watch: NBC

Odds

This will be a story of the QB’s, with a first proper sighting of what Sean McVay and Matt Stafford can do, while Bears fans will be desperate to see Justin Fields start over career-mediocrity Andy Dalton.

The Rams are huge favorites to win so Chicago’s offensive struggles are expected to continue, but the mobility of Fields could be an X-factor here if Matt Nagy is brave enough.

Predicted winner: LA Rams

Baltimore Ravens vs Las Vegas Raiders

Schedule

  • Where: Alegiant Stadium, Paradise, Nevada
  • When: Monday, September 13, 8:15PM ET
  • How to watch: ABC

Odds

The Ravens come into this as the favorites as expected due to previous seasons, but Vegas do have some weapons in their offense so there’s a good chance of a shootout occurring here.

The over/under is set at 51 so points are expected, while Lamar Jackson may be without Rashod Bateman and Sammy Watkins due to injury issues so that will restrict the passing game.

Predicted winner: Las Vegas Raiders
