New York Giants (0-1) vs Washington Football Team (0-1)

Schedule

  • Where: FedEx Field, Greater Landover, MD
  • When: Thursday, September 16, 8:20PM ET
  • How to watch: NFL Network

Odds

Saquon Barkley’s comeback game was always going to be about settling back into competitive football, but the Giants couldn’t get their running game going at all against Denver and they need to be a threat on the ground for Daniel Jones to be effective. Washington comes in after a narrow loss to the Chargers, but Ryan Fitzpatrick looks like he could miss some time after a reported hip injury. That may open the door for Cam Newton to come in, but it will be Taylor Heinicke for now. This is a game where defenses are going to be on top, and it’s the kind of matchup the Giants will be looking for Jones to step up and find a way to win.

Predicted Winner: Washington Football Team

Buffalo Bills (0-1) vs Miami Dolphins (1-0)

Schedule

  • Where: Hard Rock Stadium, Miami, FL
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

Miami will be delighted to come away from Foxboro with the win, but this will be a totally different challenge as the Pats were very conservative in their playcalling – That’s not something you would expect so much from Josh Allen.

Buffalo were shut down by an outstanding defensive effort by Pittsburgh in their opener so they’ll need to bounce back, and it will come down to how effective the offense can be. Tua Tagovailoa wasn’t the reason they won against New England, and you have to be nervous about his ability to keep up if a shootout occurs

Predicted Winner: Buffalo Bills

Cincinnati Bengals (1-0) vs Chicago Bears (0-1)

Schedule

  • Where: Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

Every Chicago fan simply knew this would be the case, but this season has already turned into a case of waiting for Justin Fields to take over. There also have to be concerns about the number of times that Matt Stafford was able to find a receiver over the top. The Bengals eventually managed to squeak an OT victory over the Vikings in week 1 and a spread of 3 points does reflect that this should be close.

Expect Chicago to improve their defense and they should have more luck in rushing the passer in this one, and they’ll find a way to win and extend the life of Andy Dalton as QB1.

Predicted Winner: Chicago Bears

Denver Broncos (1-0) vs Jacksonville Jaguars (0-1)

Schedule

  • Where: TIAA Bank Field, Jacksonville, FL
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

We all expected Jacksonville to ease themselves into the season with a solid win against a poor Houston Texans side, but Tyrod Taylor and co put up 37 points and Trevor Lawrence threw for 3 INTs. Teddy Bridgewater demonstrated he can get points from this offense as Denver took down the Giants, so there will be an expectation that he does something similar against this Jaguars D.

Predicted Winner: Denver Broncos

Houston Texans (1-0) vs Cleveland Browns (0-1)

  • Where: FirstEnergy Stadium, Cleveland, Ohio
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

Houston have already ruined several bets over a potential 0-17 season and they may not be the worst team in football this year, but this will be a real challenge of just how good (or bad) they really are. Baker Mayfield threw a late pick to seal a defeat against Kansas but it was a moment of desperation as they looked for a late go-ahead TD. They ran the ball well and should dominate this Texans team, while moments of weakness in the defense can be explained away by some Mahomes magic. Expect both teams to be sitting 1-1 after this.

Predicted Winner: Cleveland Browns

Los Angeles Rams (1-0) vs Indianapolis Colts (0-1)

Schedule

  • Where: Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

This one does look ominous for the Colts, as they were regularly beaten by a deep ball vs Seattle in their opener and the Rams had plenty of joy through the air against a highly-regarded Chicago defense.

Carson Wentz initially looks like a downgrade on Philip Rivers but his off-season was also heavily disrupted so it will take time for him to get up to speed, but this Rams defense is good and they should make it 2-0 with another win here.

Predicted winner: LA Rams

Las Vegas Raiders (1-0) vs Pittsburgh Steelers (1-0)

  • Where: Heinz Field, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

Both teams took a while to get going in their opener, but the Raiders produced a stunning OT victory over Baltimore and the Steelers managed to take down Buffalo so there’s a lot to like about both teams.

Pittsburgh built their success on the defense in their win and that will be the same here, while the Vegas O-Line did show some weak points so there’s every chance TJ Watt could wreck this game.

This could go either way, but the Steelers D should dominate and that lays the foundation for another win.

Predicted Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers

New England Patriots (0-1) vs New York Jets (0-1)

  • Where: MetLife Stadium, East Rutherford, New Jersey
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

Both teams can take some confidence from the way their rookie QB’s played in the opening game, but New England managed to throw away a great chance to defeat Miami with a late fumble, while there were also a ton of penalties and uncertainties in coverage that the Jets could exploit.

This will be close as the Jets pushed New England close last year, but the Pats have a week to sort themselves out and should have too much for their bitter rivals.

Predicted Winner: New England Patriots

New Orleans Saints (1-0) vs Carolina Panthers (1-0)

Schedule

  • Where: Bank of America Stadium, Charlotte, North Carolina
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

There was always a chance that Jameis Winston might thrive under the coaching of Sean Payton, and he went off in a stunning opening win as the Saints thumped the Packers 38-3. It should put to bed any theory that the Saints would be due a down year after Drew Brees’ retirement, so there’s now an air of excitement as we wait to see what they can achieve.

Carolina did manage to sneak a win against the Jets in terms of the 19-14 scoreline, but they also shut down the rushing game with only 45 yards being gained on the ground. We’ll see if the Saints are the real deal, and they’ll fancy their chances of making it a 2-0 start.

Predicted Winner: New Orleans Saints

San Francisco 49ers (1-0) vs Philadelphia Eagles (1-0)

Schedule

  • Where: Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia, PA
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 1:00PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

Taking on a depleted Detroit team looked like the perfect opener for the 49ers as they looked to easy many returning players into action. For most of the game that was the case, but they somehow game up 16 points in the final moments and Detroit had the ball and a chance to come back but ended up going down 41-33.

The Eagles took some time to get going but 17 unanswered points in the second half were more than enough to secure a comfortable victory, while 261 passing yards demonstrates that Jalen Hurts can hurt teams with the pass as well as the run.

This will be a much tougher test for both teams, but it could be tight if San Francisco continue to demonstrate a sluggishness in defense.

Predicted Winner: San Francisco 49ers

Atlanta Falcons (0-1) vs Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-0)

Schedule

  • Where: Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 4:05PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

The Bucs really had to fight in their season opener to overcome Dallas with a late field goal, but Atlanta demonstrated absolutely nothing to make anyone think they have a chance here.

Dak Prescott was outstanding in the face of pressure and pulled off several big moments, but Matt Ryan doesn’t have the mobility and his O-line is inferior, so expect a comfortable win from the reigning Champs here.

Predicted Winner: Tampa Bay Bucs

Minnesota Vikings (0-1) vs Arizona Cardinals (1-0)

Schedule

  • Where: State Farm Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 4:05PM ET
  • How to watch: FOX

Odds

Arizona came out with one of the most entertaining performances in week 1, as Kyler Murray was producing miracles on the scramble and Chandler Jones wrecked the game with 5 sacks to open his season in the best possible way.

The Vikings have some serious issues against the run as the Bengals ran up almost 150 yards in their opening loss, while the impressive late comeback to force overtime ultimately means little as they went on to lose.

Arizona’s problem is consistency so this isn’t a forgone conclusion, but it’s hard to pick against them to make it 2-0.

Predicted Winner: Arizona Cardinals

Dallas Cowboys (0-1) vs Los Angeles Chargers (1-0)

Schedule

  • Where: SoFi Stadium, Inglewood, CA
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 4:25PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

This should be one of the most even matchups of the week, as Dallas will look to prove they can see out a victory and the Chargers will feel there are weaknesses in the Cowboys defense that can be exploited.

Micah Parsons looked good on his debut so that should improve matters, while Dallas also abandoned the run against Tampa in the opener, but we may see a bigger does of Zeke in this one to ensure Dak Prescott isn’t taking too many risks for a second week in a row.

The Chargers’ defense was dominant against Washington, and that should give them the edge to win again this week.

Predicted Winner: Los Angeles Chargers

Tennesee Titans (0-1) vs Seattle Seahawks (1-0)

Schedule

  • Where: Lumen Field, Seattle, WA
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 4:25PM ET
  • How to watch: CBS

Odds

Seattle really shouldn’t be a textbook example for anyone else to follow. Russell Wilson was demanding a trade this off-season, key players were lost, they barely have a 2021 Draft Class to speak of, there were multiple holdouts behind the scenes, and still they comfortably won against the Colts with Wilson looking imperious with his deep ball as usual.

Tennessee didn’t have a great time of things, they couldn’t get Henry going and they couldn’t deal with Kyler Murray at all – so you have to think another week of an electric QB who can produce some magic isn’t what they need.

Predicted Winner: Seattle Seahawks

Kansas City Chiefs (1-0) vs Baltimore Ravens (0-1)

Schedule

  • Where: M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore, MD
  • When: Sunday, September 19, 8:20PM ET
  • How to watch: NBC

Odds

It was a sore loss for the Ravens to take in week 1 as they led with 37 seconds left against the Raiders, while they also had a chance of a field goal or better in OT to win it. The O-Line looks particularly porous and some passive defending isn’t going to be the answer against Patrick Mahomes, but going after him also leaves room for Tyreek Hill to burn them over the top.

The Chiefs simply have too many weapons here, while Jackson could be running for his life far too often this year.

Predicted Winner: Kansas City Chiefs

Detroit Lions (0-1) vs Green Bay Packers (0-1)

Schedule

  • Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, Wisconsin
  • When: Monday, September 20, 8:15PM ET
  • How to watch: ESPN

Odds

Calling this game depends on whether you want to use some logic and what is presented on paper, but the tale of the tape from week 1 shows something very different.

Detroit did give up a lot of points so that is obviously a big problem, but they also showed fight and demonstrated that they can find a way to put some points on the board.

Green Bay were just bested in every single facet of the game and Aaron Rodgers didn’t look like his usual self at all. We’re too scared to call this in Detroit’s favor, but it’s a much more interesting game than many would’ve expected going into the season.

Predicted Winner: Green Bay Packers
