The Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs series started with a win for the Montreal franchise. A reason why it happened is that the Leafs captain John Tavares suffered a scary injury during that game, leaving his teammates shaken up. He visited them yesterday for the first time since the injury, giving the team a morale boost they needed to clinch a spot in the North Division Final.

Canadiens vs Maple Leafs Preview

Winner of Montreal vs Toronto Series Plays Winnipeg in Divisional Final
The Winnipeg Jets knocked out the Edmonton Oilers from the 2021 Stanley Cup Playoffs by winning the series 4-0. The Jets will meet the winner of the Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs series in the North Division final.

The Maple Leafs are favored to get there, the main reason being that they lead the series 3-1. They have a chance to finish their job tonight – with a win against the Canadiens tonight; they would book the ticket to the next stage of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Even if they don’t win, they’ll get another chance a few days later, which means that there’s no pressure on them. Still, this doesn’t mean they’re going to be too relaxed. They want to get it over ASAP.

Three Straight Wins for the Leafs After a Shocking Loss

In the first game of the Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs series, the team from Montreal won, even though they were the underdogs. The reason why they got the win is that Toronto’s players were shaken up following the horrible injury that their captain suffered.

John Tavares was stretched out during the game with a head injury. His teammates had no idea whether he was alright until after the game. No surprise that they didn’t win.

However, in the following three games, they won each time. Their captain is still out, but he’s on the good road to recovery. In fact, he visited the team at their practice facility yesterday, for the first time since he got injured.

Seeing their captain doing well is certainly going to make the Leafs feel better. It’s also guaranteed to give them the motivation to win the series, as he might be ready to join them in a week or two.
