Game Preview

North Texas got a big win at Oklahoma State this week, earning a spot in the NIT semis. They rose to #32 in the KenPom, continuing to prove themselves as a team that perhaps deserved an at-large bid to the main tourney. The Mean Green are representing the C-USA well in their final season before moving to the AAC conference. They could meet C-USA rival UAB in the finals if they win here.

Wisconsin won at Oregon in their NIT quarterfinal game, drawing a bout against North Texas in the semis. The Badgers will continue to test the metrics, aiming to prove them wrong once more, sitting 30 spots below the Mean Green in KenPom. Wisconsin is the final Big-10 team alive in postseason play, hoping to make the NIT finals and prove they had deserved a spot in the main NCAA tourney.

The NIT is heating up and the semifinals feature some great matchups. Wisconsin is the last power-conference team alive, seeking to overcome two more mid-majors to win the title. They may run into a wall here against North Texas, who ranks in the top-25 in the country in defensive efficiency. I see this being a very low scoring game, with the Mean Green coming out on top by a score of 59-56.
