The spectators at Oracle Arena had a chance to see Dirk Nowitzki for the one last time. He and young Doncic demolished GSW. Boston lost again, while Hawks beat 76ers for the second straight time.
Dirk Dancing Again
The Golden State Warriors suffered the toughest loss of the season last night at the Oracle Arena. Dallas Mavs led by Dirk Nowitzki showed them that there is still a lot of firepowers left in his hands, and played one of the best, if not the best game since the start of the campaign.
The Mavs won 126-91, and schooled pale Warriors who couldn’t hit anything from downtown. GSW made only four of their 30 attempts for three points. Meanwhile, Dallas was red-hot, and they scored 21 threes in 49 attempts.
Dirk hit 5 of them, tallying 21 points last night, along with 5 boards. Luka Doncic made another triple-double, his sixth of the season, with 23 points, 11 boards, and 10 assists. It took three quarters for him to reach that.
For the Warriors, Kevin Durant delivered 25 points, with all of his 8 three-point tries missed, while Klay Thompson scored 8 points shooting 4 of 13 from the field. Cousins had 19.
The champions with and without Steph Curry who skipped last night’s game are two totally different teams.
Needless to say, that Nowitzki received a massive standing ovation while leaving the court in the last period.
Young Executes Philly
Trae Young hit the game-winner with 0.1 seconds to go against the 76ers and his Hawks won, 129-127, defeating the team from Philly for the second time in a row. The rookie fired a floater over Joel Embiid and sealed the fate of the guests. Lately, the Hawks have been performing very well, and it seems that this team has a huge potential to be much better next season.
Young scored 32 points and had 11 assists, and 6 boards, dominating the court. Taurean Prince added 23 for the hosts.
Meanwhile, for the guests, Embiid had 27 and 12 boards, Jimmy Butler 25, while Simmons added 21, 9 rebounds and 6 dimes.
Boston Fails to Deliver Once Again
There is something very bad with the Celtics. We don’t know what exactly, but they aren’t going to be anywhere near the Finals if they continue to play like this.
Last night they lost a won game, once again heating the rumors about bad blood in the locker room. Charlotte finished the game with a 30:5 run and came back from the dead, winning 124-117.
The fall in the closing minutes was impossible to explain, and we are sure that Brad Stevens has a lot of headaches at the moment.
Kemba Walker dropped 36 points on the Celts’ defense, grabbed 11 boards and had 9 dimes. Miles Bridges had 20 and 7 rebounds.
As for the guests, Kyrie had his usual night, with 31 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists. This was his fifth straight match with 30+ points, and he joined Paul Pierce, Larry Bird, and John Havlicek, as one of the four Celtics ever to achieve that.
In other games, Sacramento defeated Phoenix Suns in California, 112-103. Harrison Barnes and Buddy Hield posted 25 points each, while Nemanja Bjelica had 17 boards along with 13 points. Devin Booker splashed 32 for the guests, along with 10 assists. No.1 pick Ayton scored 19 with 10 boards.
Portland defeated Pistons, 117-112, Jazz was convincing in Chicago, 114-83, while T-Wolves beat Memphis in Tennesse. KAT had 33 points and 23 boards. Heat clinched a huge win in DC, 113-108.
