Packers vs Vikings Vegas Odds: Green Bay to End Vikings Resurgence?

  • Green Bay Packers are 8-2 on the season
  • Minnesota Vikings are 4-5 right now
  • Aaron Rodgers threw no TD passes last weekend

The Green Bay Packers travel to Minneapolis to take on their divisional rivals Minnesota Vikings. With a win on Sunday, the Packers would practically secure the #1 place in the NFC North. They are 8-2 on the season, while the Vikings, who are just behind, are 4-5.

At first glance, Green Bay looks like a clear favorite to win the Week 11 matchup. However, oddsmakers think we’ll see a close game in which only a field goal might decide the winner – the Packers are coming to Minneapolis as three-point favorites.

What’s interesting about this team is that they’ve been really good this season when it comes to covering the spread. In fact, Green Bay did it on eight occasions. Let’s see if they can do it again!

Game Preview

Green Bay’s Offense Expected to Do Better

The Packers are coming off a 17-0 win over the Seattle Seahawks, which was their best defensive display of the season. Actually, the last time they beat someone to zero was in September 2018 (22-0 against the Buffalo Bills).

Preventing Russell Wilson and Co. from scoring a single point isn’t something that many teams can brag about. However, the Packers’ defense managed to pull it off, showing the footballing world they have what it takes to stop almost any offense in the world.

Week 10 marked the return of Aaron Rodgers as the Packers starting QB. As a reminder, he missed the Week 9 game due to COVID-19, which his team ended up losing to the Kansas City Chiefs. However, a week later, A-Rod made his comeback but failed to produce much. Against the Seahawks, he threw for no touchdowns and one interception.

It’s likely that the reason behind his below-par performance is that he didn’t have enough time to get ready for Week 10. He was cleared to play only a day before the Seahawks game. This time, it’s going to be different. Now that he’s had more time to practice, Rodgers is likely to do much better, which could mean trouble for Minnesota.

All Eyes on Kirk Cousins

The Packers have one of the best defenses in the league, with just 18.0 points conceded per average. What’s even more impressive is that their average over the past three games is 12.3. Knowing all this, it seems that outscoring Green Bay is a challenge not many teams can handle.

If there’s someone who could outsmart the Packers’ defense, it’s Minnesota’s two-time Pro Bowler quarterback Kirk Cousins. He’s 3-3-1 against the Packers in his career, with the most recent win happening in 2020.

Cousins, however, did get sacked 15 times against the Packers, as well as got five of his passes intercepted. On a positive note, in those seven games, we saw him making 15 touchdown passes.

NFL Game Prediction

The Vikings aren’t as bad a team as their record suggests. It’s just that they’ve missed too many chances this season. Unfortunately for them, their next opponent is one of the best NFL teams.

That said, the visitors are likely to win, although this surely isn’t going to be an easy game. Still, knowing that the spread is set to only three points, the Packers’ will probably cover it.
