Pepperdine Waves (4-5, 0-0) travel to Spokane, Washington to open up their West Coast Conference play against the top ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs (12-0, 3-0).
The Waves are coming off two straight terrible losses to poor teams after starting the year strongly.
Gonzaga Bulldogs are without question the best basketball team in the country. It will be shocking if any WCC opponent is able to upset the Bulldogs this year, especially in Spokane.

Pepperdine vs Gonzaga Preview
Pepperdine Waves Beat Pac-12 Opponent California, Lose to CSU Bakersfield
Inconsistent play has been the common denominator for the Waves so far this year. The Waves started the season with a statement victory over top Big West Conference team UC Irvine. Following that victory, Pepperdine almost knocked off ranked UCLA in Los Angeles, but the Bruins managed to pull away in triple overtime.
Then the Waves challenged formidable San Diego State and lost by only five points, and followed that effort by beating the California Golden Bears at home by eight in a fairly dominant victory. Since then, Pepperdine has lost all rhythm. Two double digit losses in a row at home to UCSB and then CSU Bakersfield has the Waves season in a terrible position as they head to face Gonzaga.
Pepperdine should focus on playing efficient basketball in Spokane and not worry about the scoreboard. The end result will be fairly demoralizing.
Gonzaga Best Team in Country Should Finish Season Undefeated with Ease
The Bulldogs have proven time and time again this year that they are the best team in the country by far. Their coast-to-coast victory over Iowa was never competitive at all and the dominant win was overlooked because of how easy Gonzaga made it seem.
Mark Few has his Bulldog players playing their best basketball and there is no reason it will not continue against Pepperdine. Corey Kispert and Drew Timme have been unconscious from the field scoring 20 points per game on 60% shooting.
Not to mention Freshman Guard Jalen Suggs who is averaging 13 points per game, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game, on 40% shooting from 3PT range. Many NBA scouts believe Suggs is a guaranteed top-5 NBA draft pick in the 2021 Draft.
The path to an undefeated season continues with Pepperdine on Thursday. With a head coach as disciplined as Mark Few, expect Gonzaga to be more than ready to run through the Waves.
Pepperdine vs Gonzaga Pick & Prediction
Our Pick: Gonzaga Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will not find a challenge in the West Coast Conference until they face the Gaels of Saint Mary’s, and even then, that depends on your definition of challenge.
As mentioned previously, and the odds from Vegas would agree, it will be shocking if any team is able to upset the Bulldogs especially coming from the WCC.
Gonzaga knows they will need to impress throughout the season and remain sharp as they continue through conference play before the tournament begins. I expect this Gonzaga team to make quick work of the Waves in a dominant fashion (high scoring game).
