PFL Europe Week 1 Predictions
SimeĂłn Powell vs. Mohamed Amine
The light heavyweight fight Simeón Powell vs. Mohamed Amine is the main event of the evening. Bookies see Powell as a -500 favorite, which isn’t surprising given that he’s 7-0 in his pro career. His previous three wins happened in bouts organized by PFL.
Powell’s opponent is 5-1, with his only loss happening in his most recent fight. It happened exactly a year ago, after which Amine decided to take a break. He’s coming back to the ring next Saturday, but we don’t think it’s going to be a spectacular return. Instead, we expect to see him lose to Powell.
Pick:
Dakota Ditcheva vs. Malin Hermansson
The co-main event is the Dakota Ditcheva vs. Malin Hermansson women’s flyweight fight. Ditcheva is a -1500 favorite for a reason – she’s a UK Muay Thai champion who’s been involved with professional MMA since 2021.
Ditcheva a.k.a. Dangerous is 7-0 in MMA, with six wins by KO/TKO. Two of those wins happened in the PFL in 2022. Actually, her most recent fight was at PFL 10, the last event on the 2022 calendar. Unfortunately for her, it was a preliminary fight, so the win didn’t bring her the $1 million prize.
She can try it again in 2024, but to get there she needs to do well in the 2023 PFL Europe. That’s why we think she’s gonna take the fight with Malin Hermansson very seriously, probably going for another KO win.
Pick:
Lizzy Gevers vs. Valentina Scatizzi
Lizzy Gevers is a Dutch mixed martial artist with a background in judo, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and wrestling. She’s 3-0 since the start of her professional MMA career, with each of those events organized by relatively unknown European promotions.

She did come to America earlier this year to train with Black House in Los Angeles, an elite MMA team that’s been working with a number of UFC greats, including Glover Teixeira and Rafael dos Anjos.
We think she’s ready to win the biggest fight of her career. Oddsmakers favor Valentina Scatizzi, but we think Gevers is the real deal.
Pick:
Cornelia Holm vs. Marta Waliczek
This is going to be a very close fight that’s almost certainly going to be decided by the judges. After all, most of these fighters’ bouts were decided by points. Cornelia Holm is 5-5 overall, with 70% of her fights going the distance. Marta Waliczek is similar with a 6-5 record and eight fights that lasted for full three rounds.
We think this fight is a coin toss, which is why we’re gonna bet on the underdog. Priced at +210, Hold really does look like a good bet.
Pick:
Anthony Salamone vs. Daniel Ladero
Anthony “White Bear” Salamone is 7-1 with his only loss happening in his last fight. It happened in the 2022 PLF Playoffs when we saw him lose by a unanimous decision. Some seven months later, he’s fighting again. This time, his opponent is Daniel “White Gorilla” Ladero who’s 3-1 overall.
Both fighters are great on the floor, but we think Salamone is better. And oddsmakers seem to agree with us, giving him the role of the -500 favorite in Saturday’s fight.
Pick:
Griet Eechkout vs. Mafalda Carmona
Griet Eechkout a.k.a. The Painapple hasn’t fought since 2021, but before that, she fought 11 professional fights, winning six, losing four, and drawing one. She’s fought in various promotions, including Bellator MMA.
She’s a -180 favorite to win against Mafalda Carmona, who’s 4-2 in her career with three wins by KO/TKO. The Portuguese fighter might not have as impressive a portfolio as Eechkout, but we don’t think she should be underestimated. We think she’s in much better shape than Eechkout who’s nine years her senior.
