Event Preview
The Valero Texas Open has been a stop on the PGA Tour since it was first established in 1922. The tournament record score is held by Tommy Armour III, who finished with an aggregate total of 254 when winning the event in 2003. Last year’s winner of the PGA Tour event was J. J. Spaun, who finished two shots clear of Matt Jones and Matt Kuchar.
The latter of those could be worth following this weekend, as the American highlighted his clear potential around this course when finishing two shots off the lead 12 months ago. Kuchar also comes into this weekend after impressive displays this term, having made the cut on seven occasions from eleven appearances; finishing in the top ten on three occasions.

Tyrrell Hatton heads the betting for the event this weekend. The Englishman has played in seven events this season, finishing in the top ten on three occasions. He is incredibly consistent, indicated by the fact that he has made the cut on all PGA Tour appearances in 2023. He could easily be the class in this field, but it may be worth taking him on at the current prices.
Matt Wallace will come into the event as one of the most in-form players in the field. The 32-year-old landed a maiden PGA Tour event last weekend with success in the Corales Puntacana Championship. As well as the win, he has made the cut in half of the 12 events that he has played this year, finishing in the top ten on two occasions.
Valero Texas Open Prediction
We like the chances of Wallace backing up his win last weekend with a top-ten finish, but our main play will be on Corey Conners. The Canadian won this event in 2019, and has finished in the top 25 in six of the ten events that he has played this year.

- Corey Conners (+2000)
