NFL Preseason Week 2 Betting Odds and Predictions

It’s time for Preseason Week 2 action out of the National Football League. Let’s take a look at some of our favorite games to bet on for this week:

Eagles (+3.5) vs. Patriots (-3.5)

In a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl, this game is going to be focused on the backups. One player that will be interesting to watch is Christian Hackenberg, who just signed with the Eagles earlier this week, as he looks to extend his NFL career. He struggled with both the Jets and Raiders, so we’ll see if he gets a chance.

On the other side, it’ll be interesting to watch the Patriots wide receivers. They’ve got a number of skilled veterans coming into next season, but every year, one or two guys emerge from the blue. We like the Patriots.

Jets (+1) vs. Redskins (-1)

After their fight, earlier in practice this week, they will finally be able to settle it on the field. This is likely to be a very physical and violent game as the two teams want to flex on each other. Terrelle Pryor also got into it with DJ Swearinger in practice yesterday, so we’ll see if there’s any carry-over there.

Tryouts for the Redskins starting RB job will begin with this game, after losing Derrius Guice last week. It’s a tough break, but the Redskins have struggled at this position since Alfred Morris’ descent back to earth began quite a few years ago.

Steelers (+5.5) vs. Packers (-5.5)

There won’t be too many things that are different for the Steelers this year, as they will continue to pile up the wins. They’ll be evaluating a lot of players through preseason, as all teams are, but don’t expect much to change.

The Packers are using this time to plan their wide receiver depth chart, and doing some work at the running back position. They will be working in Jimmy Graham as the next big target for Aaron Rodgers. Look for the Packers to win this game.

Jaguars (+4.5) vs. Vikings (-4.5)

They won’t have two of their top defensive players in Dante Fowler and Jalen Ramsey this week after they violated team rules, but they’ve still got a lot of guys out there. The wide receivers will be competing for roster spots, while a backup corner will have a golden opportunity.

Another week for the Vikings of playing high quality football. Latavius Murray may get a chance at a few extra carries, while Dalvin Cook gets back into the rhythm of playing competitive football. It’s a good chance for backup QB Trevor Siemian to learn the offense. Bet on the Vikings.

Raiders (+2.5) vs. Rams (-2.5)

A lot of players that weren’t last year have joined the team since Jon Gruden took over, and so they will have a very new look. With the same top receiver, quarterback, and running back, the offense looks similar, but the addition of Jordy Nelson certainly changes things.

The Rams will be looking to repeat last year’s success, and the backups will be continuing to learn the offense. A team is only as good as their second unit, so that unit will help determine the ceiling, should injury strike. Take the Rams this weekend.
