The Seattle Mariners look to keep rolling as they gun for their fourth win in a row against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim on Monday (10:10 AM EST) at T-Mobile Park in Seattle, Washington.

After toppling the defending champions Boston Red Sox twice in their three-game season-opening series, the Mariners scored another huge win on Sunday against the surprisingly struggling Angels.

Seattle’s ace pitcher Felix Hernandez had a solid performance in his 2019 MLB season debut, while right fielder Jay Bruce scored a home run for the third consecutive game.

As for the Angels, they will try to right the ship after their third straight loss and fourth in five games this season. Los Angeles’ offense has been off so far with main sluggers Mike Trout, Albert Pujols and Kole Calhoun batting below .300 at the plate.

Monday night’s matchup will also feature a showdown between Mariners left-handed pitcher Marco Gonzales and Angels right-handed hurler Trevor Cahill. The Seattle Mariners are -1.5 over the Los Angeles Angels.

Seattle Mariners Team Preview

The Mariners are on fire right out of the gates. Their batting firepower has been in full display, racking up 68 hits, 53 RBIs, 54 runs and a league-leading 16 home runs in 248 at-bats. Their pitching isn’t shabby as well with a 3.68 ERA and 54 strikeouts in seven games.

Bruce, the two-time Silver Slugger winner, is enjoying a strong start so far as he’s slugging .600 with three homers and eight RBIs in 25 at-bats appearances. Shortstop Tim Beckham and right fielder Domingo Santana are leading the team in batting average (.423) and RBIs (11) respectively, while second baseman Dee Gordon has stolen a base four times already.

On the mound, Marco Gonzales has provided two strong starts with eight strikeouts against six earned runs. Hernandez, the 2010 Cy Young winner, pitched 5.1 innings in his debut, striking out four batters and allowing seven hits and a run.

Los Angeles Angels Team Preview

The Angels, on the other hand, are doing the exact opposite of what’s clicking with the Mariners. Their opening week struggles at the plate put them in the bottom five of the league across all major batting categories.

The Angels are 27th in batting average (.188), 28th in slugging (.256), 24th in RBIs (12), 19th in hits (30) and 24th in earned runs (12).

While it’s true that the injury to All-Star outfielder Justin Upton has significantly affected the team’s firepower at the plate, the on-going struggles of their other key sluggers have made the worse.

Seattle Mariners vs. Los Angeles Angels Betting Pick

It appears the Mariners are determined to add more pressure on the Angels.  Seattle manager Scott Servais will be sending their still undefeated Opening Day starter to the mound on Monday.

Based on his 2018 form, Gonzalez is going to be a torn for the Angels in their first confrontation this year. After all, he went 3-0 with a 3.34 ERA and 38 strikeouts in six starts against the Angels in 2018.

A miserable season-debut against the Athletics (allowed four runs) won’t bode well for Trevor Cahill and the Angels either, especially with the kind of offense the Mariners have been showing so far.

The only chance for the Angels to snatch a win at T-Mobile Park is for Trout and Pujols to finally wake up from their slumber. If not, it would be Mariners all the way.

Bet the Seattle Mariners -1.5 over the Los Angeles Angels.
