Blues Hoping To End Losing Run
It has been a disappointing week in the NHL for the St Louis Blues. Their recent form has seen their odds with these leading sportsbooks plummet in the Stanley Cup markets. The Blues still hold their narrow advantage at the top of the Central Division, but a defeat this weekend could see them toppled. St Louis have lost their last three games in the NHL, and have only won twice in their past ten.
During this run of form, the Blues have been beaten by the Philadelphia Flyers, Colorado Avalanche and the Edmonton Oilers. Their last two defeats have come against the Dallas Stars and the Vegas Golden Knights; both in overtime. The Blues most recent defeat came against the Golden Knights, as they surrendered a 3-2 lead from the opening period to lose 6-5. Zach Sanford was in excellent form on that evening for St Louis as he scored four goals, while MacKenzie MacEachern was also on the scoresheet. The Blues need to win this game.
Predators Looking To Continue Momentum
The Nashville Predators have been rediscovering some of their best form over recent weeks, and may have their eyes set on an outside chance of reaching the playoffs. However, that remains unlikely, but a run of victories could change that. The Predators have scored the same amount of goals as the Blues this season, but defensively they have been weak. They have the second-worst record in the Central Division. The Predators go into this game having won on their last outing in the NHL.
That success means that they have now won three in five. The Predators most recent win came against the New York Islanders, and it was a dominant display by the home side. Nashville scored three times in the first period, and twice in the second to put themselves on their way to a comfortable 5-0 win. Craig Smith scored three goals in the win, while Rocco Grimaldi and Mattias Ekholm also scored.
Predators vs Blues Head To Head
The Predators hold the dominant record in the head to head between the two sides. They have won on 49 occasions, compared to the 37 wins recorded by the blues. The Predators have also won five times in overtime, while the Blues hold the advantage when it comes to shootouts having won on eight occasions. Nashville average 2.5 goals per game against the Blues, while St Louis scored an average of 2.3 goals.
The pressure is really on for the St Louis Blues now, but this won’t be an easy fixture for them. Their struggles over recent weeks have been alarming for punters, but they will probably do enough to get the win in this game.
