Blues Looking To End Recent Skid
The St Louis Blues have been out of form over recent weeks, and their two defeats on the bounce has opened the door for Colorado Avalanche to have a chance at taking the top spot on the Central Division. The Avalanche have won their last five to put the pressure on the reigning Stanley Cup champions. St Louis have been inconsistent over their last ten outings in the NHL, as they have only won twice in regulation time. During that spell, they have also been beaten on five occasions.
Their last two defeats have come against the Winnipeg Jets and the Dallas Stars. The latter of those was their most recent outing in the NHL, with the Stars eventually scoring the match-winning goal in overtime. The Blues started the stronger of the two sides and were 2-0 ahead after the opening period. However, the Stars came back in exciting fashion by equalising in the second frame. The Blues goals were both scored by Colton Parayko. They will need to end their recent skid if they want to stay at the top of the division.
Golden Knights Not In Best Form
The Vegas Golden Knights have also been stuttering over recent outings. They have lost both of their previous two matches in the NHL. However, over the last ten games, they do have a better record than their opponents on Thursday evening. They have won on four occasions, and have been beaten four times. The Golden Knights remain in with an outside chance of making the Stanley Cup playoffs, but they will need to get back into good form soon.
The last two defeats for Vegas have come against the Carolina Hurricanes and Minnesota Wild. They have conceded nine goals in these two games, with their recent defeat being a 4-0 hammering against the Wild. The Golden Knights were made to pay for a slow start in the game, as the Wild inflicted all the damage in the first two frames. Kevin Fiala, Zach Parise, Joel Eriksson Ek and Jared Spurgeon got the goals.
Blues vs Golden Knights Head To Head
The Blues hold the advantage in the overall record between the sides as they have won on five occasions compared to the three wins recorded by the Golden Knights. The Blues have won all three games that have gone into overtime. St Louis average 3.4 goals per game, while the Golden Knights average 2.5 goals per game.
This should be an interesting fixture, and it is also pretty challenging to call. Both sides have endured a tricky run of results over recent weeks, but the preference would be for the Blues to get back to winning ways on the road.
