Summer Of Transfer Activity Ahead At Stamford Bridge

Frank Lampard’s first season in the hot-seat at Stamford Bridge has been a success for the majority. Chelsea remain in with a chance of finishing in the Champions League places this season, and their hopes of achieving that remain in their own hands.

The Blues are currently in fourth spot but are set to face a stern challenge from Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur when the Premier League returns after the containment of the Coronavirus. Transfer plans at Stamford Bridge will be crucial to their chances of progressing next season, but whether they are in the Champions League will have a big impact on the calibre of players that they will be able to bring in.

Willian & Oliver Giroud To Depart Chelsea

In order to free up funds to bring in new players, Lampard must first get some players off the wage bill. The English manager has been keen to give youth a chance during the season so far, and that is unlikely to change next season. That means that some of the players that could be departing the club include Willian and Oliver Giroud.

Bother players were close to leaving in the winter transfer window, with Giroud wanting to leave to ensure that he could get his place in France’s European Championship squad. However, Giroud didn’t get his wish in that window, and would be thankful that the Euro’s have been pushed back a year so that he can have a better chance of getting in the squad. The Frenchman has played brilliantly when given the chance this season, but it looks unlikely that he will be at Stamford Bridge next season.

New Arrivals At Chelsea

Chelsea have already began their summer spending, as they have already brought in Hakim Ziyech from Ajax. The winger is the first summer signing for the Blues, but it would be hard to believe that he will be the last. Lampard will also be hoping to bring in another winger, and the player on the lips of all Chelsea fans is Jadon Sancho.

The Borussia Dortmund winger will be one of the hottest properties in European football this season, which means Chelsea will have a big challenge on their hands to tempt him to move to London. Barcelona are another club that is interested, but Manchester United could break the bank to bring in the winger.

It has been reported that United are willing to pay a record-breaking amount to bring in the winger. The Blues will also be hoping to bring in a new midfielder. Reports over the weekend have indicated that they could be about to make a swap deal with Juventus, with Miralem Pjanic swapping places for Jorginho. The Juventus player could be a player that interests Lampard but whether he will be willing to give up Jorginho to bring him in may be in doubt.

The summer transfer window is scheduled to open in June, but that date could be pushed back depending on when the club season will be concluded.
