The Los Angeles Lakers suffered a stunning loss at home against the Orlando Magic tonight. Previously, Detroit Pistons made another big upset, by beating the Boston Celtics on the road.
Markelle Fultz Dominates LeBron
The former No.1 pick, who was criticized and heavily doubted ever since he came to the league, showcased his full potential against the Los Angeles Lakers (33-8). The young point guard was the leading player of his Magic (20-21), who defeated the hosts 119-118.
Fultz posted a triple-double delivering 21 points, 11 boards, and 10 assists. He was all over the court, often outsmarting the entire Lakers’ defense. Over the last 40 seconds, Orlando’s new leader scored twice, showing that he has ice his veins, even though he had the one of the most dominant teams in the league across the other side. Without any fear he would outplay LeBron on a few possessions.
His Magic controlled the game very well up until the start of the final period. With 6:27 left in the third, they were 19 points up, but opened the last frame with a one-point lead. Nevertheless, they wouldn’t go down mentally but kept trading buckets with the hosts, and eventually win. Besides Fultz, Aaron Gordon had 21 points, while Wes Iwundu and Nikola Vucevic scored 19 buckets each.
Among the hosts, LeBron scored 19 points but posted unreal 19 assists. Quinn Cook came off the bench to record a team-high 22 points, Troy Daniels and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had 17 both, while Dwight Howard scored 9 points but grabbed 16 rebounds.
