NCAA Tournament Final Four Betting Preview:

Texas Tech Red Raiders (3)
Michigan State Spartans (2)

The second Final Four game will feature a pair of teams who both knocked off a number one seed in the Regional Final. Texas Tech used their stifling defense to shut down a terrific Gonzaga team, while Michigan State was able to find a way to knock off the mighty Duke Blue Devils. The Red Raiders and Spartans don’t have a ton of future NBA stars, but they have great roleplayers.

This is the first ever Final Four appearance for Texas Tech, while Michigan State is back for the first time since 2015. Texas Tech has terrific guard play, but Michigan State will have a huge edge down low. The Michigan State Spartans are -3.0 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

texas tech red raidersTexas Tech Team Preview

Texas Tech has been putting on a defensive clinic in the NCAA Tournament, and that has them in the Final Four. The Red Raiders are allowing just 57 points per game in their four NCAA Tournament victories, and they lead the country in defensive field goal percentage. Texas Tech will look to turn up the pressure on Michigan State.

Sophomore guard Jarrett Culver has been the offensive star for the Red Raiders this season, averaging 18.5 points and 3.7 assists per game. Davide Moretti and Matt Mooney provide plenty of shooting for Texas Tech and have combined to score more than 22 points per game. Texas Tech has plenty of offensive weapons even though all you ever hear about is their defense.

Michigan State is routinely one of the most physical and top rebounding teams in the country, but this Spartans team has an offensive star as well. Point guard Cassius Winston carved up Duke in the regional final and is averaging 18.9 points and 7.6 assists per game this season. The Spartans are averaging 79 points per game this season and will look to score before Texas Tech can set their defense.

The Spartans aren’t too bad on defense either; allowing just 65.2 points per game. Michigan State was able to hold Duke down to just 67 points on Sunday, and they will find a way to slow down Jarrett Culver in this game. Kenny Goins and Xavier Tillman give the Spartans toughness and rebounding to complement the main stars.

Texas Tech vs. Michigan State Betting Pick

texas tech red raiders vs michigan state spartans

Even though Texas Tech will get plenty of hype as being the best defensive team still remaining, Michigan State can guard as well. The Spartans were magnificent in slowing down Duke in the regional final, and they have plenty of length to throw at Culver. Texas Tech will try to keep this game in the low 60’s while Michigan State is comfortable playing in the 70’s.

The Spartans have been on a roll for a long time now, and I think they just have too much momentum to lose this game. Texas Tech has had a terrific season, but their wild ride will end with a loss in this game. Tom Izzo will have his Michigan State team ready for that defense.

Bet the Michigan State Spartans -3.0 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
