There are three matchups on offer today at the 2022 Qatar World Cup, including the USMNT kicking off their campaign with a Group B fixture against Wales.
Last year’s European Championship finalists England will also be in action against Iran, but could be in for a disappointing opening result before Senegal, who will be without Bayern Munich’s Sadio Mane, take on tournament outsiders the Netherlands.
So, without further ado, let’s get stuck in and explain our thoughts behind today’s World Cup predictions.

England vs Iran Prediction
England hasn’t won in their last seven games, in all competitions, and although Iran look like a favorable opponent on paper, we expect Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions to be in for a tough opening game.
Admittedly, it’s hard to go completely against last summer’s Euros 2020 finalists, but we certainly wouldn’t be surprised if the points were shared in this one, especially considering how well-drilled and resilient Iran are.

Senegal vs Netherlands Prediction
Undoubtedly, the biggest miss for Senegal will be Mane, who has been ruled out for the whole tournament through injury.
Although still likely to cause Louis Van Gaal’s Oranges some problems, the team from Europe should have enough about them to kick their 2022 World Cup off with a win, especially if PSV’s Cody Gakpo continues his rich vein of form.

USA vs Wales Prediction
I’m calling it now – the USMNT are this World Cup’s dark horses.
Starting their tournament off with a favorable matchup against Gareth Bale’s Wales, the USA are rightfully the betting favorites.
With the likes of Christian Pulisic leading the line and Giovanni Reyna operating in the channels just behind, Gregg Berhalter’s USMNT should cause Monday’s opponents a world of problems.
Keep a close eye on Nottingham Forest’s Neco Williams too.
Assuming Rob Page opts to start the 21-year-old right-back, he will likely be tasked with stopping Pulisic, who is prone to drifting out to the left-hand side, and if the man from Chelsea showcases his blistering pace, seeing the Welsh defender pick up at least one card wouldn’t be at all surprising.
