Allyson Felix Becomes Most Decorated Track Athlete in Olympic History, Durant Leads Team USA to Gold

  • Allyson Felix wins her 11th Olympic medal, becoming an absolute recorder in track and field sports.
  • The US basketball team won the Olympic gold medal beating France in the finals
  • Australia came third after a win against Slovenia.

This Saturday had a lot of interesting events, but several of them caught our attention. Fantastic Allyson Felix is once again in the center of attention, as well as the American basketball players, only this time in the men’s competition.

Felix Leaves Karl Lewis Behind

Lewis had 10 Olympic medals in the track and field disciplines and was topping the list in this category for a long time. Yesterday, Allyson Felix joined the legendary sprinter, and already today, she left him behind.

The 35-year old was a part of the American 4×400 relay unit that won another gold, and with that medal, Felix has 11 Olympic honors, which makes her the most successful athlete in both competitions.

Team Poland came second, and Jamaica third, with the USA leaving all the rivals far behind, ending the race in 3 minutes, 16.85 seconds. Besides Felix, Sydney McLaughlin, Dalilah Muhammad, and Athing Mu also took the gold.

To make this day even better for the American track team, the men’s relay in the same discipline also won the gold, with the Netherlands and Botswana finishing second and third.

Undoubtedly, Felix put an exclamation point on her incredible career. She has seven Olympic gold medals, two silver and one bronze.

KD and The Boys Win the Gold, Luka Without a Medal

The US basketball team was the first favorite for the title before the start of the Olympic Games, with the odds on them swinging between -320 to -280. Even though they started the tournament with a loss against France, the Americans found their grove as time went by. In the end, they managed to avenge the opening failure, defeating the Gauls in the finals today, 87-82

It was a nasty game without too many spectacular moves and plays, but Gregg Popovich’s side found a way to post a victory and grad the fourth consecutive gold.

France was always near but without the energy to flip the result. With 16 points and eight boards, Rudy Gobert was the best scorer on the losing side, along with Evan Fournier.

Fantastic Kevin Durant dropped 29 buckets on the French defense to win his third Olympic gold, while Jayson Tatum added 19 off the bench to help his older teammate.

Luka Doncic and the Slovenians lost to Australia in the match for third place, 107-93. The newest acquisition of the Brooklyn Nets, Patty Mills, scored 42 points to demolish the Slovenian defense. This was the first Olympic medal for the Aussies ever.

Luka had 22 points and was visibly disappointed after the match. The former Rookie of the Year will now turn his attention towards the NBA and come back to Dallas. By the way, Doncic is the No.1 favorite to win the NBA MVP for the upcoming 2021/22 season +400, according to the latest updates.

Interestingly, the second on the list is Durant +700, and it will be pleasant to watch these two in the NBA when the season starts. They both had exhausting 12 months but are expected to be available for the start of the new season.
