Belgium and England clash this Sunday in the UEFA Nations League League A Group 2.

Belgium vs. England Preview

The hosts top the assembly, while on the other side, England might finish behind and fail to reach the playoffs. For some, that would be considered a disappointment, but for the others, UNL is one overrated competition, and the results made here are not that important. However, when you meet Belgium, the stakes are high, not because of points, but due to the reputation and the mental edge, as these two nations stand as one of the biggest favorites for the soccer EURO 2021 title.

Where, When, How to Watch Belgium vs. England

Belgians Keeping the Pace

The Devils suffered their only defeat in the last 15 games against the Three Lions, which happened in October, at Wembley, 2-1. It is something that they want to erase, especially because many of their players appear for English teams. As we said, the main thing here is that both these teams already see one another as potentially the biggest candidates for the EURO 2021 title, and desire to create some sort of a mental edge early on.

Belgium played this midweek against Switzerland, in a friendly international, winning that contest, 2-1, after managing to come back from behind. They wouldn’t appear in the top lineup, but things seem to be different for this event.

Lukaku is ready, De Bruyne also, while on the other side, Eden Hazard, Timothy Castagne, and Yannick Carrasco will miss this match.

Southgate Not Changing Anything

The pressure coming from the media in England is always enormous, and as soon as one domestic player emerges to the surface in the Premiership, they tend to glorify him as the next big thing. That almost always forces the national coach to put him in the lineup.

Yet, with Southgate, that isn’t the case, as he already has his unit formed, and the lineup for all the big matches is more less predictable. From time to time, he experiments, but that is mostly in friendly games.

That was like against the Republic of Ireland, but the team in the clash with Belgium will be the same as always, with Kane, Chilwell, Walker, Sterling, etc. Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander Arnold are out according to the latest news.

By the way, England routinely defeated their neighbors with 3-0.

Head to Head Games

The first game at Wembley saw a 2-1 victory of the hosts. Lukaku struck first, but Marcus Rashford equalized from the penalty in the late first half. Mason Mount brought a win for the English side.

The Belgians are very efficient at home, and their four last games here saw both teams to score, and the previous seven straight went above 2.5 goals. During that span, in just one of them all, they couldn’t net twice. Therefore, having in mind that England has an enormous offensive capacity, goals on both sides are expected here.
