UFC Fight Night 167 is taking place on February 15 in Rio Rancho, New Mexico. The headliner event is the Anderson vs. Błachowicz 2 bout, while there are five other fights in the Main Card. We’re now going to discuss each of the bouts from the UFC Fight Night 167 Main Card, providing odds info along the way, as well as betting picks and previews.
Jan Blachowicz vs Corey Anderson (Light Heavyweight)
The fight that’s headlining the UFC Fight Night 167 is the clash between two MMA veterans Corey Anderson and Jan Blachowicz. The two meet for the second time in the Octagon this weekend. Their previous bout was in 2015 when Anderson won by decision.
Both fighters are famous for their tendency to go the distance, which is why it’s very likely we will see them enduring all five rounds. But, who’s going to have his arm raised high after the fight? Although he’s coming into the fight as an underdog, Jan Blachowicz seems more than capable of triumphing.
Prediction: Jan Blachowicz
Michel Pereira vs Diego Sanchez (Welterweight)
Here’s another fight from the UFC Fight Night 167 Main Card in which the underdog looks ready to make an upset. Online sportsbooks have made Pereira a big favorite here, but Sanchez’ abilities should not be underestimated.
The American has experience on his side, having been in the UFC for 15 years. On top of that, the New Mexico native is fighting in front of his own crowd in Rio Rancho.
Prediction: Diego Sanchez
Mara Romero Borella vs Montana De La Rosa (Women’s Flyweight)
|Montana De La Rosa||-175|
|Mara Romero Borella||+145|
Montana De La Rosa lost her previous fight to Andrea Lee, which was her first defeat in the UFC. Her opponent is also coming into the fight after a defeat, which was her second UFC loss. Borella, who is a black belt in kickboxing and Judo, has struggled to deal with opponents who are good on the ground. And De La Rosa is exactly that kind of fighter. She loves finishing her fights by submission, which is what is very likely to happen this weekend.
Prediction: Montana De La Rosa
Rodrigo Vargas vs Brok Weaver (Lightweight)
Brok Weaver is making his UFC debut in Rio Rancho against Rodrigo Vargas, a Mexican fighter who lost his only UFC bout to Alex Silva in summer 2019. Weaver got a place in the UFC Fight Night 167 after a pretty good performance in Dana White’s Contender Series last year, in which he showed he’s a well-rounded fighter worthy of a place among the elite fighters.
Prediction: Brok Weaver
Ray Borg vs Rogerio Bontorin (Flyweight)
Despite being in his mid-20s, Ray Borg is already a UFC veteran, with 10 bouts in his portfolio. He’s going toe-to-toe with the Brazilian fighter who’s lost only one fight in his professional career. Although it’s not going to be easy for Borg to win this fight, he should be able to pull it off.
Prediction: Ray Borg
Yancy Medeiros vs Lando Vannata (Lightweight)
Both fighters have been in the UFC for ages. Medeiros has been fighting under the helm of Dana White’s promotion since 2013, while his opponent made his UFC debut in 2016. Both fighters have a mixed record in this competition, the reason being that they faced some really tough opponents in the past.
Medeiros’ previous fight was against Gillespie, which he lost by TKO. The same was the case when he faced Donald Cerrone in the Octagon in 2018. Vannata is also coming to Rio Rancho after a defeat. He lost to Diakiese by points last September. It looks certain that this is going to be a close fight, but Vannata does appear like a slight favorite.
Prediction: Lando Vannata
